Series ratings plunge

BARRY JACKSON

bjackson@herald.com

Burdened with a short series and lack of a marquee opponent, Fox got a predictable result Thursday: the lowest-rated World Series in history.
Apparently the rest of the world loves the Sox as much as I do.

no... the rest of the world just hates Fox as much as I do... Had they started the games an hour earlier like they usually do, interest would have been much better.... the West coast had a very large share of the market compared to the east coast... You all do realize that the games didn't start til almost 9 p.m. for the East Coast, right? The people that run Fox are just morons like Joe Buck... I watched half the games on mute... most people aren't like that though... they get annoyed with Joe Buck, and just change the channel... personally, I don't blame them. Next to John Madden, he's one of the most irittating people in the world.

Trust me, you'll see a much larger White Sox fan base next year, but even still, who cares about those that don't care about the White Sox? We're still the Champions, and there's nothing that no one can say or do about that. So either root for the champs, or continue to be jealous and wish you could be us. Personally, I don't want more people to like the White Sox... you all stole my tickets for the World Series, and will probably make it extremally difficult for me to obtain my Opening Day Tickets this upcoming year in April.

Despising the White Sox will be no problem. And the rest of the country will continue its apathy to this year's world champions.

And there's no jealousy here. I despise the White Sox.

And you think Joe Buck is annoying? I listened to the play by play with the Sox's own radio tag team. I literally had to turn to the Astro's radio team because I could not stand to listen to those guys.

Who cares about apathy? Would you trade naitonal apathy towards your team for a World Series trophey?

1.75 Million fans showed up for the parade, so there doesn't seem to be much apathy here in Chicago. :P:

Joe Buck is horrible- Pretty much anything on FOX is horrible. How could you not stand John Rooney and Ed Farmer on the Radio? This was supposed to be Rooney's last year but thankfully they're talking about his contract again... He is one of the best in the business, and if he continues doing radio for another 15 years (he's already done 19) he'll probably make the Hall of Fame. Even ESPN prefers Rooney over Buck... notice who they continued to play on Sportscenter?

I was a part of that 1.75 million, I'm the guy wearing the White Sox hat, waving the flag... oh wait, so was everyone else... hot stuff, no offense, but aren't you a Twins fan? Do they even have a million people in those two cities? I think White Sox fans outnumber most other fan bases by a large margin.

And yet no one outside of Chicago cared enough to watch the World Series. It ranked an 11.1 rating. (Twins had a 24 rating in both 87 and 91) You can't blame it on Fox. Even as World Champions, no one outside of Chicago seems to care.

But they love you in Venezuala

Oh and there are 2.7 million folks here in the Twin Cities.

Of course they love us in Venezuela, that's what makes us World Champions... because the World cares.

But still, who cares if you all watched the World Series? If you didn't it's not because you don't like the teams, it's because you don't care about God's favorite sport. - what a shame
