He's not dead yet!

I'm sorry but I have had it up to here listening to members of the media speak of him in the past tense. This is a human who is dying and I am sure it would frighten most assuming of course he is cognitive. Is someone holding his hand? Is he in pain? Is he with loved ones not just people who are waiting for him to die?

Its killing me.

i'm sure he has all his close aides (ie friends) and confidants around him. not to mention, the angels, saints and our Lady of Hope keeping him company -_-

that being said, the media does stink.
For all we know he could hold out in this state for months! :)
Yes he could. The man took a bullet. He's as tough as Reagan!

I think they have nothing else to report about the current state of the pope, so they're talking about his life. he did this he did that et cetera, and that's good for past tense. I've heard Fox News a few times say stuff like "this is a pope who" still in present tense... I really like the way the media has been handling this this far, well, our media not necessarily the italians ... anyway, they're just talking about his whole papacy so I understand why they're using the past tense.

But Reagan took a bullet too! Both had to endure much hardship and are linked by many threads. It was a sad day when Reagan died and it will be a sad day when JPII goes.

I believe the Pope took two bullets that horrible day. Both Reagan and the Pope are great men

I agree and tributes to him is in order and respectful but its getting to the point that everyone is just waiting for him to die. Granted the Vatican did say it would happen soon.

I'm just frustrated.

Of course we are waiting. How else would you describe it? The Vatican has said he is in extremis. So the world waits and holds its breath. God is giving the world time to adjust to the shock.

Think of it this way.

Fox news has had live coverage for what, 24 hours? So for 24 hours there has been nothing on but faithful Catholic teaching on the value and dignity of the human person, how the history of the world was changed by this one faithful man, and how to die with grace and peace. [ in very great contrast to the murder of Terri Schiavo].

He is still teaching us, even at the end.
