Depends on whether they are ready for a child or not. If not. I'd say yes. If they are ready for children. Id say no. If a couple needs help with this decision than maybe they arent mature enough to handle sex . Period.

I would counsel them to abstain. They are acting in a way that is an abomination to the sancitity of marriage.

I would not condone their action of using contraception, but I would also challenge their premise as to why they would be having sex to begin with.

I'd even give them some condoms, if they wanted. I offered to buy them for my younger brother when he was afraid that my dad would find out. *L* He had a reason to be afraid -- my dad knows everyone in our hometown.

I don't want my little brother getting knocked up at his age. I'd rather drive his girlfriend to PP for her bc (as awkward as that would be) than know I could have done more and didn't.

Then again, I'm not catholic, I'm childfree, and I'm having an IUD put in this week. Sweet, sweet protection for 5 years.

If there were any doubt as to my sex, I think this should clear it up.

Using contraception would compound and already grave sin.
Not using contraception could cause other innocents to suffer from their sin.
I would do nothing to encourage them having sex or act blase' about it. Tough call. I didn't vote.

i would not ask them to use condoms or help them to obtain them. since contraception is clearly against Church teaching there is no way i could counsel someone to use it. besides that, to encourage the use of condoms would be to encourage their pre-marital sex which i also would not support.

Let's apply this logic to other areas of life.

"Hey kids, don't shoot up heroin, but if you do, here are some nice clean needles, so you don't contract AIDS"

"Hey terrorists, don't blow up my city, but if you do, here are some small explosives, so you don't use nuclear bombs instead"

Et Cetera, Et Cetera, ad infinitum. It is flawed logic, to say the least.

Telling them to use contraception or to have relations without the intent of pro-creation outside of marraige is mortal sin.

I agree completely. The proposition that you can give someone the means to commit moral evil (contraception, needles, bombs) to prevent some negative consequence (pregnancy, AIDS, nuclear war) is illogical stupidity.

You think that sex without the intent to create life is morally evil. I dont. To me saying a condom is like an explosive device is absolutely absurd. But thats where we differ.

The flip-side is that by not giving them any clean needles at all, and someone becoming seriously injured from withdrawal which you could have prevented, means that this is not clear-cut.

Linking the examples in the way you did makes even less sense when it's pointed out that one example involves someone enslaved to a substance and the other is not anything of the sort.
