Andrea348
i couldn't resist posting in this thread.... i've been playing the piano for 14 years....and actually, i am about 45 days from getting my music education degree with a concentration of piano... i am a pretty bad example though....i HATE to practice...in my earlier days of college i actually did practice a little bit because i was around campus all the time and practicing in a practice room at night was kind of fun cuz all my friends were there practicing too....as the years went by i practiced less and less....this semester i am lucky if i practice 10 minutes before my lesson....i cannot wait for lessons to be over because i hate them...i have a really nice teacher, but i don't like playing solo piano....i much prefer accompanying people/choirs....i also don't like the stress of having to get graded on my playing in what they call a jury at the end of each semester....you have to play 2-3 pieces by memory and depending on what semester you are in also play scales, arpeggios, chord progressions, score reading, or harmonizations....it is no fun....thank God i've done my scale and arpeggio pass off where you have to play 4 octave scales and arpeggios in all Major, harmonic and melodic minor keys at a certain metronome marking..... anywho....i can't wait to be done college so i can play the piano for fun again.... FutureSoror
A piano is, in essance, a really big guitar. I play the guitar...
Well, there you go!
jc is 4 Jesus Christ
that's a pretty good analogy... except guitar looks harder to learn cuz you have to tune it and find where to put your fingers to make the right note and i dunno it looks harder than piano if ya ask me... bookwyrm
I almost always skip my warm up... but it's so long, can you blame me? I'm supposed to play a Hanon exercise, about three billion scales, arpeggios, and at least one Bach invention before I even start practicing. Bah. I don't have time to practice anymore. I've been working on 'The Girl With the Flaxen Hair' for a year officially as of Wednesday. I've been ignoring it thinking it will go away. Too many flats.
