jasJis
Something that really strikes me, being a woman, is that the Catholic Church has an all-male priesthood. That's just plain wrong, can't you see that? (again, don't mean to offend). Only men can be priests and only a man can be a pope. So only men can serve god and all women are good for is to serve men?? Because they're inferior?? This is so sexist!! How can good-hearted people like you believe in something like this?? How can so many women believe in soemthing like this?? P.S. Remember I'm Protestant and trying to learn, not offend. Go to the "hey i'm new" thread in Open Mic for more info The logic is all wrong. Are you and I loved less becasue we are not Thomas the Apostle? Are all people today inferior to the people (Apostles, Disciples, followers) that actually saw Christ and served Him then becase we aren't Apostles and haven't met Jesus as a physical person? Different can be equal, not identical. An orange is a fuit and so is an apple. Both are good and nutricioius to eat, but does that make one inferior to the other? Which one is better? Monica
What other religion honors their woman more than Catholics? I think if you looked at the Catholic Church's role in the liberation of women throughout history, you'd be very suprised. not quite what i've heard before. examples?? :)
Monica
We don't NEED to be priests. Most of us don't want to be priests. MOST of you. What do you make of people like this; http://www.womenpriests.org/welcome.htm We are Roman Catholic theologians who firmly believe that the discussion on women priests should be left open. We love our family, the Catholic Church. We fully accept the authority of the Pope. We respect his personal integrity as an outstanding spiritual leader. But we are convinced that the Pope and his advisors in Rome are making a serious mistake by dismissing women as priests. We feel obliged in conscience to make our carefully considered reasons known. “All the faithful, both clerical and lay, should be accorded a lawful freedom of inquiry, freedom of thought and freedom of expression” Gaudium et Spes, no 62. Monica
Christ, OUR SAVIOR, was a man! Not a woman. And he picked men to perform the specific duty of service to the Church in his "persona" . If he had been a woman nobody would have listened to him. Women were supressed in that society. He HAD to be a man. And he had to pick men for the same reason.
BLAZEr
This is not, I REPEAT NOT, where the Catholic teaching on an all male priesthood comes from, but I'm wondering Monica, as a Protestant, what do you do with 1 Corinthians 14:33-39 I repeat my Question Monica . . . Monica
Hi Monica, What church are you going to now, and do they have female pastors? I am part of the Presbyterian Church. And yes, we do have women priests.

littleflower+JMJ
well monica....the Catholic Church is the one that has and still is protecting women from becoming victims to today's immoralities of contraception and abortion. not to mention, be the first to recognize and uphold the dignity and honor of women, all starting with the BLessd Mother, Mary. If he had been a woman nobody would have listened to him. Women were supressed in that society. He HAD to be a man. And he had to pick men for the same reason. when did Jesus say "i have to pick men, but later on you can pick women?" having women priests are going directly against what Jesus himself taught. priests are our "our spiritual fathers" and having women priests as "fathers" is NOT a father....
littleflower+JMJ
and having women priest is one of many Prime examples of Jesus teachings gone astray among others of course........

Aloysius
If he had been a woman nobody would have listened to him. Women were supressed in that society. He HAD to be a man. And he had to pick men for the same reason. someone already touched on that. Jesus was shunned as socially inferior being a Nazarene, he went against the cultural norm there. Christ became man because that is the way God has revealed Himself to mankind forever. As male. have you thought about the fact that men can't be mothers? is God being unfair to us not allowing us that role? the fact is, God made men and women equal but different. He did that in the first creation. in the new creation through Christ Jesus, He reiterated that difference, while continuing to reiterate their equality. Women are to be subservient to their husbands. Husbands are supposedta be self-sacraficial to their wives. that is Biblical teaching. if you accept the Bible as the inspired word of God, that's what it says. if you think that's not correct, then how can u believe in the Bible as the inspired word of God? that is in the Bible. The Pope authoritatively declared that the Catholic CHurch DID NOT HAVE THE AUTHORITY to ordain women. sheeeeeeeeesh when we claim we have authority to do something (like interpret the Bible), you wanna claim we don't. when we claim we don't have the authority (like to ordain women) you wanna claim we do!!! ahhhhh hypocrisicaical attack on the Church! Jesus Christ is the only one with the authority to decide who can be ordained and who cannot. He made the decision. The Church confirmed that disision throughout the years. these disenters want to push their own agendas. and it is a selfish agenda. to go against 2000 years of teaching, to go against the Holy Bible, just so they can wear a priest robe and pretend to make bread and wine the Body and Blood of Christ (if a woman were to try to do it, she would have invalid holy orders, and it would not really transubstantiate) they want power. they wanna sit on Christ's right and left when he Lords over all mankind. true priests are to be subserviant to the God's will as revealed by His Church. cmotherofpirl
What do you make of people like this; THe Pope has said the Church doesn't have the authority to go against the Bible. If these women want to be priests they will have to leave the Church. Its also silly to say Jesus had to conform to the social customs of the time. Jesus is the God-man, do you think the opinion of a culture would influence He who was there were the stars were made?
