Matt Black
Here's the text of the banning email:- "Matt, A vote has been taken and we have unanimously chosen to ban you permanently from Baptist Board. We no longer accept Catholics, knowingly, for membership and your attempt to draw others to the Catholic Church was over the line. Matt Black said: #2. Yes and no. No, if you do not know that the Catholic Church is necessary for salvation, yes if you do. Let's face it, nearly all non-Catholic Christians do NOT know that the CC is necessary for salvation...er...otherwise they'd be Catholic The ban has already been put in effect. Diane Tavegia Board Administrator For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom He paid was not mere gold or silver. 19 He paid for you with the precious lifeblood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. 20 God chose Him for this purpose long before the world began, but now in these final days, He was sent to the earth for all to see. And He did this for you. 1 Peter 1:18 " I have emailed a reply saying that my reply was stating what I thought the view of the Catholic Church was and that was not necessarily my view...and I await their response...but for the moment I have now joined the ranks of Phatmassers who have been banned at BB! NB: I can't now even access BB in 'read-only' mode so I would be grateful if some PMers can go to the thread in the Other Religions section entitled 'About the Catholic Church' where my 'offending' post is and seee whether there's been any mention of my banning there. Yours in Christ Matt
They troll here on a daily basis to make sure no Baptist is sliding into hell by even being remotely interested in the Catholic Church. They are so afraid of discussion or debate they stick their fingers in their ears and run screaming ban him What ever happened to "the truth will set you free"? Phazzan
So what. It's a crusade against anyone who doesn't profess their fundie brand of Christianity. Usually, groups such as these welcome you with open arms, but once they find out you're not gonna convert to their ways you get made redundant. It's half power trip, how pride saver, but fully depressing. I also recommend trying www.ntrmin.org boards. There's no way God's love and forgiveness could ever account for such a miserable lot. Jaime
I can empathize man I got banned from the Catholics for Kerry site when I pointed out that they were misquoting the USCCB. Actually that made me chuckle

Brother Adam
So.... "Save_ferris" gets banned for suggesting if someone wanted to learn about the Catholic faith they should read the Catholic Catechism, and equates it to if someone wanted to learn the Muslim faith they should be familiar with the Koran. Matt gets banned for simply stating the obvious, and whether he agrees with it or not is banned for said offense. One baptist member makes note it is the equivelant of the fourth reich of Nazi Germany. It seems they are afraid of their own shadows at this point. ironmonk
That is why I created http://www.BaptistBoard.net They didn't allow the screen name "ironmonk". But they do allow others Matt, you have confused me, your profile there and here says Baptist, but when you were posting, I thought "This guy has to be a Catholic"... then I saw "Baptist", I was like, wow, his church must get a lot of flak from other Baptists. jasJis
Kill the fattened calf! IronMonk is here!!! Welcome!!!!!! Matt, As somebody who lives in the Southern US, I've grown up with strict Southern Baptists as friends. In all honesty, they don't like most other Protestants either. My philosophy is a Christian grows into a faithful Catholic. Being lucky enough to be baptised as a baby into the Catholic Church is only being planted in the most fertile soil. We still have to tend to ourselves to grow into a faithful Catholic and someone planted in another Christian denomination will outgrow you if they tend to their faith more seriously. By the way, what geographic area of the UK do you live? I know some people who spent a year there in Youth Ministry and they some vibrant Catholic parishes.
