I was wondering if this was true in all Protestant denominations. I spent my last 3 years in a Southern Baptist High School and they said that the Catholic Church was a satanic cult <_< and since we were not "Saved" we were all going to hell. Is this what others beileive also? Thank You for listning

I know that this was directed towards non-Catholics, but it has been my experience that not all Protestants view us as going to hell or a satanic cult.

No not at all. Most protestants where i live look up to the Catholic church with great respect as a moral authority and a great cause for Good and a beacon of Christianity even if they disagree with many doctrine or disciplines.

Nothing is "true" for ALL Protestants. You can find a vien of protestantism that believes just about anything. I'd barely say they are all in agreement that there exists a god.

Most Prots do not believe that. You will find some redneck fundamentalists and Southern Baptists plus a few redneck Presbyterians and hardcore Calvinists who still think the Pope is a Great Beast(tm) and the Catholic Church is the Whore of Babylon(tm), but they're few and far between nowadays. The average Protestant will disagree with Catholics to the extent that they disagree with Prots of other denominations

My wifes side of the family are deeply southern baptist. They definitely believe catholics are going to hell. Primarily for their heavy beleif and worship of the virgin.

Interesting, I didn't know that "Great Beast" and "Whore of Babylon" were registered trademarks.
Who owns the trademarks? (This could be an interesting legal issue.) ;)

red·neck
NOUN:
Offensive Slang
Used as a disparaging term for a member of the white rural laboring class, especially in the southern United States.

You should show a little more kindness to those who don't understand your beliefs, name calling, even if they started it is not very nice.

Extra ecclesiam nulla salus

So speak and so act as people who will be judged by the law of freedom. For the judgment is merciless to one who has not shown mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment. What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day,
and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well," but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it?
So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
Indeed someone might say, "You have faith and I have works." Demonstrate your faith to me without works, and I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works.
James 2: 12-18

Justified Saint

Some Calvinists I recently talked to said that Catholics were going to hell because they deny the doctrine of sola fide a la Trent.

I've yet to meet anyone who thinks I am going to Hell because I am Catholic. They say my sain tand Mary worship will do it, but I guess there isn't much to do with being a Catholic on that one, at least not how they mean worship. So, I guess I know a few prots (one to be exact) who thinks I'll go to hell for worshiping Mary, and in his sense of the word, so I guess that includes ALL Catholics or so he believes...

God bless,
Mikey
