Brother Adam
He is the author of a lot of good works (Not by Faith Alone, Not by Bread Alone, Not by Scripture Alone, How to Get to Heaven) but I've heard there have been recent problems with his theology. What are these and are these problems present in any of these aforementioned books?
Guest Eremite
Robert Sungenis identifies himself with the so-called "Traditionalist" movement, and thus, many of his problems flow from that. He has been roundly criticized for various things, ranging from some stuff he claimed about Judaism, to scientific opinions, etc. As for the books, they all have trustworthy supporters, so they are fine. However, in "Not By Bread Alone", he does present some thoughts that seemingly contradict the Church's doctrine on the immutability of God. For the most part, though, they are good books. Guest Eremite
Here is a recent criticism of his thoughts from Catholic apologist I. Shawn McIlhenny, who specializes in so-called "Traditionalism". Archangel
Sungenis believes in geocentrism, that the sun revolves around the earth. He's offering $1000 to anyone to prove otherwise. phatcatholic
James Likoudis, former president of CUF (Catholic United for the Faith) criticized Sungenis (here) for his thoughts on the pope. Justified Saint
Jeff Mirus weighs in: http://www.catholicculture.org/sites/site_...cfm?recnum=1900 Despite his flaws, his stuff on Protestantism is still really solid. MichaelFilo
He's not too much of a traditionalist.... I mean... that site claims that wearing a head-covering is purely a practice for the church that Paul was addressing, not the Universal Church(not saying it's wrong, just not a tradtionalist stance). God bless, Mikey
