Melchisedec
Mel do me a favor and have some faith. You seem to be a very depressed person poking at christian belief. My prayers are with you. .
Not depressed at all. I was invited here to discuss religion and learn about catholicism. I enjoy speaking with people who understand their faith far beyong a superficial level. It all fascinates me.

Cam42
Earlier in this thread I said:
God made me to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him in this world, and to be happy with Him for ever in heaven. That answers the first. To save our souls, we must worship God by faith, hope, and charity; that is, we must believe in Him, hope in Him, and love Him with all our heart. That answers the second. It really isn't all that hard. In our complex mind, we forget that God is simple. Think of it as a child would think of it and most often, one will come closest to understanding the mind of God. To start quantifing and postulating, one will start moving away from only to need to move back.
I still think that we as young adults are trying too hard. Don't think about it so much. There are some things we can only know through faith. This is one of them. Faith is simple. Either you believe or you don't. Take it from me. I spent about 10 years formally getting after this stuff. And as a certified Catechist, when this question comes up, I invaribly go back to the first paragraph I quote. It is the easiest and fullest way to explain it. It embodies all that is being said on the affirmative. Cam
yiannii
I did. Why do you ask?
Thank you so much! I have been troubled because I could not understand why God crated man. But from those words, when I read them, it suddenly clicked. I can grasp why, I can now believe this through faith and intellectually. God bless!
