Ok Little Less

Let's make this simple shall we?

Which of the two Ex Cathedra statements do you want to discuss?

I'll make it even easier for you. I've only presented one ex cathedra statement.

Perhaps tomorrow, I'll present another.

Les,

Are you going to get me those statements on Heliocentrism/geocentrism from Vatican I and Trent. Looking forward to reading them.

Hey before hot stuff (who also is degreed in Theology) rips you to shreds....how about answering my assertations. Not questions, but assertations.

I was talking about infallibility, remember?

If not here is the post date: Mar 9 2005, 06:25 PM If you have a hard time with dates, it is the top of page three.

Answer me, please.

You haven't quoted any Ex Cathedra statements yet.

You have two (hint: Maaaaaarrrryyy)

You know the Ever-virgin Mother of God, who was sinless (big hint) and was assumed body and soul into heaven (bigger hint).

Although, I don't think that he can take a hint. Les, answer my posts.

Oh, it can't be shotgunning if I am addressing you on one issue on each of these multiple threads. Try to keep up. We have three threads going and you are behind on all three. Good luck.

Actually, it is closer.

1. Kevin Bacon was in a movie with Chris Ellis (Apollo 13)
2. Chris Ellis' sister Joanna Ellis Morat is my mom's close friend
3. I know my mom
4. You know me

In the six degrees of Kevin Bacon....anyone who has interacted with me is at 4th degree.

Therefore, it is true that most of the world is within 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon.

Hi Jamie,

No. I think I was discussing Exsurge. I don't recall referring to the "M" ex cathedra statements, but eventually we will probably want to analyze at least the Assumption since it disregards the restrictions for infallible statements in general established by Vatican I.

Nah, Thessalonian,

I think you can find the ruling on the Church's authority to interpret scripture in Trent and Vatican I. But probably not any teaching on astronomy. The star of Bethelem might be an exception

However, in the interpretation of scripture see the First Vatican Council, session 3, chapter 2 #8. Wasn't that suppose to be infallible too?

I understand that... But if you want to discuss Ex Cathedra statements(which is still the title of this thread) , you are limited to two dogmas. That's it and they are the "M" statements.

Ok, for the nth time....

Exsurge Domine is not infallible. It most certainly is not ex cathedra. What part of this don't you get? It is not an infallible document, never was.

You are being ubsurd. Why don't you respond to my post about infalliblity? It is on the top of page 3.

Ah darn. I thought you were going to strip me of my faith in God. NOT!

Be sure and remember that 8 goes with 9. Let's post them for all to see.

8) Now since the decree on the interpretation of holy scripture, profitably made by the council of Trent, with the intention of constraining rash speculation, has been wrongly interpreted by some, we renew that decree and declare its meaning to be as follows: that
in matters of faith and morals,
belonging as they do to the establishing of christian doctrine,
that meaning of holy scripture must be held to be the true one,
which holy mother church held and holds,
since it is her right to judge of the true meaning and interpretation of holy scripture.
9. In consequence, it is not permissible for anyone to interpret holy scripture in a sense contrary to this, or indeed against the unanimous consent of the fathers.

Once again A POPE, a BISHOP, or a HOLY OFFICE is not THE CHURCH so your arguement fails misserably. Neither can you show the Church fathers holding unamimously to such views as would make the condemnation of Galileo an event that proves infallibility wrong. It is very sad that you continue down this path. :sadder:

You are definitely in need of prayers as is dairy and so I can assure you of mine.

God bless

This reminds me of a joke...

Why was 6 afraid of 7?
