Parallels...

some Hindu kid was showin me the parallels between Krishna and Jesus.

all i kept thinking was... wow, u have pulled random little parts of Jesus' life out of context, then random little parts of krishna's well... im not exactly even sure he had a life cuaze there's no historical evidence he existed, but whatever it is random little parts from there are pulled out and then it's shown how they parallel.

so i figure, there has to be perpendiculars. anyone familiar with 'teachings of krishna" or something? wanna show me where they 100% contradict what Jesus says or does?

plus, i've been wondering. i know they claim that there is this one god, or brahman, and all the 'gods' are just manifestations or w/e. how valid in historical hinduism is this? as far as i can tell from the random stuff i've heard about their ancient stories, their gods fought each other, talked to each other, did all sorts of stuff which definitely doesn't show even the slightest hint that they are all one. where did this come from? it appears to me to be a copycat of us with the Trinity, three persons, one God. i donno.

any info would be appreciated!

I dont know if this is entirely relevant, but...

CS Lewis once said that paganism and echoes of Jesus and Mary in the mythologies of pagan nations were a sort of preparation for the Gospel, so that the types of the figures of Salvation would already be present in the minds of the hearers...

For instance, a Hindu hearing the Gospel would understand Christ as a kind of Krishna, and then the evangelist could come in and say "Well, He's not exactly like Krishna, and here's why..."

kewl...

no one got the perpendiculars though? ah well maybe i cant just lazily ask my PhatMass friends, i'll do a lil research

a kewl quote from Ghandi says that if Christians actually lived by Christ's message there would be no Hindus left in India.
