cmotherofpirl
I am in favor of cheap receptions . I hate to go to formal expensive [cavier, champagne] weddings where no kids are invited because of the cost and showing off. I would much rather serve spagetti and meatballs for the main meal and ice cream sundaes for dessert and invite everyone and all their kids to have a great time. Weddings are supposed to be fun!!!! catholicflower
I went to a wedding this past summer for a really devote catholic couple. Right before the wedding they did a litany of saints and then right after mass, before the procession out, they took one of the flower arangments and put it by a statue of mary and dedicated their marriage to her. I really liked that.

1337 k4th0l1x0r
Just curious, but you refer to your boyfriend as boyfriend and not fiance. Does he know you're getting married in a little over a year?

missionarybelle
@ our parish we have a tradition of giving roses to Mary. and I LOVE the idea of confessions. I also like the bride and groom washing each others feet (or just the guy doing it) to show servanthood. and playing the song "amen" (I dont know what it's really called but the one thats kinda gospelish and says like halleuia! in the middle) also @ the reception I like it (if the wedding is for kids to) when they have a "kids" table thats shorter that has goldfish and fruit loops and other kid foods so 1 they don't eat the expensive stuff and 2 they and the parents like it. oh and if y'all both have good voices or even if only one does, if you sing a song to each other... beautiful! Ash Wednesday
I'm going to have a very small and simple wedding, especially if I get married abroad. My wedding might be in Polish. But as long as it's Catholic, I'm cool. And we're both Catholic... so... duh! I'll have a nice fun reception in homeland USA for friends and family unable to attend. :band:
