This question fails to take into account the fact that the Catholic Church is composed of 22 Churches made up of five different liturgical families or rites. Thus, as a Byzantine Catholic I do not attend Roman Catholic liturgical services; instead, I attend Byzantine Catholic services, i.e., the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom (and the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil during the season of Great and Holy Lent).

Since my conversion to Catholicism, I have not attended any worship service that is not in full communion with the Catholic Church.

Whats this poll all about, hmm? You seem to like starting these hehe. If possible, events permitted etc. I go to Mass everyday. However, I seldom go to non-Catholic services is ever. Why? Look at the difference in the two words: Mass and service. Mass is when the Catholic person goes to the Church to offer up through Christ Jesus the eternal High priest all that is good in his life and to repent all that is not so good... At Holy Mass we recieve the body, blood, soul and divinity of the Word made flesh. He who needs nothing makes Himself effectively nothing, an inanimate object, a piece of bread, for beings who are themselves really nothing. To reach out to us in love He gives us Himself so completely to us that He can even say that He lives in me John 6:56.

To my understanding I cannot ever get so close to Christ glorified on earth anywhere except in an Eastern Church Catholic or Orthodox and thus I dont feel the need to go to Protestant services (I might go to ecumenical event or something, but come Sunday there's only one place you'll find me ;) ). To my understanding of Protestant theology everything that happens at a Protestant service I can do either on my own or in the context of Holy Mass. In addition as I've mentioned in the context of the latter I have the extra bonus of participating in the liturgy of Heaven as John depicts in Revelation, honouring the covenental command of Our Saviour, and recieving Him directly into my body in the flesh as a reward.

If your point is to try and make Catholics seem closed off then I'd say you're right. The sacramental system provides for all my needs and I see no way of possibly perfecting upon what Jesus Himself established thus I dont even try. It is not an anti-ecumenical spirit that makes Catholics inward looking but indeed our inward looking attitude makes us ecumenical because knowing the gift of the Eucharist we wish to work together with other Christians and make them away of what they're missing.

Dominus Vobiscum

I keep trying to explain this to people on other boards. If you want to talk about my faith, it is Catholic. If you want to talk about my rite, it is Roman Catholic.

I voted other. The vote would have been "never, anymore". I have not attended a worship service other than mass since I began my (re)conversion to Catholicism.

I also am a convert. But I have attended non-Catholic services as my father is a pastor of a Baptist Church and I go with my parents on occassion. And they sometimes come to Catholic Mass with me.

I don't go to other services....what's the point? I know my faith and my faith holds the fullness of the truth.

Why would I want to go to something inferior? I wouldn't. So I don't go to other services.
The Eucharist is "the source and summit of the Christian life." (CCC 1324)
Notice it doesn't say the source and summit of Catholic life.
"The Church knows that she is joined in many ways to the baptized who are honored by the name of Christian, but do not profess the Catholic faith in its entirety or have not preserved unity or communion under the successor of Peter." Those "who believe in Christ and have been properly baptized are put in a certain, although imperfect, communion with the Catholic Church." With the Orthodox Churches, this communion is so profound "that it lacks little to attain the fullness that would permit a common celebration of the Lord's Eucharist." (CCC 838)
The Eucharist is the perfect communion.....
Finally, by the Eucharistic celebration we already unite ourselves with the heavenly liturgy and anticipate eternal life, when God will be all in all. (CCC 1326)

In brief, the Eucharist is the sum and summary of our faith: "Our way of thinking is attuned to the Eucharist, and the Eucharist in turn confirms our way of thinking." (CCC 1327)
That just about sums it up for me. I don't need anything else.

Currently, I attend friends weddings, funerals, etc. When I was younger, I attended a variety of denominations with friends. I now find them providing so little Grace, I only attend them for friends. I get more out of 10 minutes of Eucharistic Adoration or reading Scripture myself, much less compared to attending Mass.

I do not go to other services, outside of weddings and funerals of people, however that does not mean i never will. I would like to at some point spend time attending other services to see what they are like. Just because i know that Catholicism is the truth does not mean i should be ignorant to every other denomination in how they worship. I get questioned all the time on how i do things at mass compared to how they do things...The best way to answer is to know what they are refering too. Also, just because we are Catholic, we can not say that our Christian Brothers and Sisters are inferior. This is why Catholicism is hated by so many. I recommend reading Fr. Pontifex' posting titled "A Concern" at the top of the Debate Table page.

The people are not inferior and are children of God, but their faith system unless Catholic clearly falls short of what Jesus intended when he founded his church.
Christ founded one Church and we are called to bring all into the fold.

I attend weekly mass and every1 that knows me knows that i am a devout practicing Catholic. I attended a mennoite school growing up that would have a devotional/chapel service every friday morning. When i have fridays off my friends and I like to go back because it provides an opportunity to pray togetether in an enviroment we feel comfortable in. As well it was also how i really began to devolp my own religious beliefs and understand Christianity better. On another note, all my family is protestant and my uncle is a Minister so on days such as Easter, Christmas our whole family (extended as well) goes to his service and i do as well for family unity. At the same time however i always attend my mass and do not miss it for other denomination events. Although we have the summit and fullness of Christian truth as mentioned before it is wise to not be ignorant of other denominations traditions as often they can contain within themselves things that our beneficial for our own faith. A great general example is the Protestants love for Scripture. We as Catholics also love scripture but i think we could learn from our protestant brothers their dilligence and enthusaism for our Holy Word. I am not saying Catholics dont just saying that we can learn from each other too without compromising our diminishing our faith. There are many things i have taken from protestants that have helped my own life as a catholic. So back to the original thread i have atteneded other services prob about once or twice a month. They are no means equivalnt or near our Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and do not contain the fullness of truth. AT the same time however it is an opportunity for my family to pray together, as well as friends. And likewise they often come to mass with me it works both ways.
