God Conquers
i say that we ditch January, February, March, etc since most of them are named after Roman gods and emperors. Its so ethnocentric. Someone might get offended. Thermidor, anyone? ( only history geeks will get this reference )
NOOOOOO!!!!! Metric Dating is terrible! journeyman
The PC group consider this "cultural imperialism" and I hate to admit that they may be right. How many other calendars are there in the world? The Jewish calendar (is in year 7000 something)? The Chinese calendar ? I'm sure there may be others which have remained in continuous use through the last 2000 years. Why should scholars in other cultures have to adopt western dating systems? but once you get past that "global" issue, what they've done is pure PC just as the Protestants wouldn't have a Bible to delete books from without the Church, the PC group wouldn't have a calendar whose nomenclature needs to be amended without the Church. (it is the Gregorian calendar we're using, the clean up of the Julian calendar to account for that 1/4 day discrepancy every year)
