phatcatholic
Please read what Mat 12:40 says, a Protestant told me that this verse proves that Jesus didnt die on a friday and rose on a Sunday because that is not three nights and three days, that catholics made that up, he says he is almost sure he died on a wednesday and rose on a saturday night, how can I prove we are right and he is wrong?? .... thanks!
why in the world would we just make that up? anyway, i could be wrong, but i always understood friday to sunday to be 3 days b/c the Jews marked sundown as the beginning of a new day, and since that is the context of the life of Christ, that's how we understand "days" in the bible. so, if the sun sets at, lets say 6:00, then: friday til 6: first day fri 6pm to sat 6pm: second day sat 6pm to sun 6pm: third day maybe someone else will be able to verify this..... lukn4trth
My point is, it says in Mat 12:40 that is going to be three days and three NIGHTS, but we say that he died on a friday and resurrected on a sunday morning (John 20:1) .... where is the THIRD NIGHT?? What this Pentecostal tells me is that what probably happened is that he resurrected on a saturday and was first seen on a sunday http://www.triumphpro.com/the_myth_of_good...n_the_grave.htm Theres a detailed explanation Edited March 3, 2005 by lukn4trth
