JP2Iloveyou
We can judge actions, not hearts.
I know. My contention is that we are not making objective judgments though. Many people go and label bishops as "liberal" or "conservative" without knowing all of the details behind a given action. As far as I'm concerned, ALL bishops should be on this list because they have all answered God's call to service. Some of them, yes, have dropped the ball on the abuse crisis and other areas within the Church, but it is not our place as the laity to determine that. There are plenty of competant bishops to police themselves.

DAF
I know Archbishop Charles Chaput is on the list but couldn't find who posted his name. Anyway, he's awesome! I was lucky enough to be confirmed by him. He's a short rather quiet little guy but he commands great presence. He's great with everybody, and isn't afraid of a good fight (on The Faith that is )Listening to him speak is like eating honey. EDIT* I noticed that there is quite a few names in posts that aren't on the list... Edited November 12, 2005 by DAF
seneca
This thread is most likely aimed only at my American friends...I'll just add some info anyway for interest sake Cardinal Bishop Wilfred Napier Of all of the Bishops I've met I've the most respect for his eminence Cardinal Napier. He's a real man of principle and at every Christian congress I've been to he's the only one to never compromise on any Catholic issues. (and he's critised for it brutally)...and I had the opportunity to be part of a Catholic debating team of which he was part defending the Church's condemnation of abortion. http://www.cardinalrating.com/cardinal_66__article_442.htm I'm thinking of joining the seminary in Durban when I complete my Psychology degree. Old_Joe
I like our Bishop, The Most Reverend Fabian Bruskewicz (sp?). Someone was telling me this story about him. When he does Confirmations, he likes to ask questions of the children. He'll ask one of them, "How many persons are in the Trinity?" and the kid is supposed to respond, "Bishop, there are three persons in the Trinity." Apparently, one time, he asked "What happens when a person dies in the state of mortal sin?" to which the kid responded, "Bishop, you go to Hell." The entire congregation erupted in laughter. I don't think he asks that anymore.
