Actually, because it's not "blatantly" pro-Catholic, in your sense of the word "Catholic". St. Augustine was living in the time that led to the Catholic Church of today. The set up, bishops who formed councils and referred to the bishop of rome as strongly significant. It was an authoritative authority. I wouldn't believe the bible is inspired without that authority. Althought my idea of "inspired" is different than most protestants, I imagine if they had the words to say it beyound "just because", I'm sure that's what they'd say too. But then I'd leave the formation open to error, whereas they don't. I suppose all they can say is that God led his people at that one time much like when the old testament was formed (how DID the old testament form that Jesus followed?) (maybe I should just leave this old testament analogy out....) or else they do have more to explain than me.

Yeah -- one time, I was browsing this communist board, and this hardcore religion-hating guy had 7 quotes in his sig. One was the EXACT SAME QUOTE I have in my livejournal info, and two more were by people I also have quoted in my info.

Was a bit disconcerting.
