I don't know what to think of myself

Something else that's unrelated but cool...

When I have a bad dream about demons and stuff (the worst ones always have demons), I'll pray to St. Michael while I'm still asleep, and they go away. He watches out for me even when I'm dreaming.

I still use a low night light, so I won't kill myself if I bump or trip on anything (I already have that problem with a light on anyway).
I couldnt sleep all the way in the dark until I was 15. I turned my light off when I was 11 and kept the door cracked for years.
Well...um...keeping the door cracked doesn't count...because, then...um...

I keep my door cracked too, OK!

I have to keep my door open, because the odor in the room builds up overnight if I don't. I've learned that the hard way. :o

yup, demonic dreams are pretty scary! normally i cannot move in them or say the name of Jesus, freaks me out.
I was afraid of the dark until I was 18 (im 19 now) until I found this Bible verse:
"Thou shalt not be afraid of the terror by night, nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness." Psalm 91:6-7
God says to simply not fear. Even if there is something there you have no need to be afraid. I pray that God gives you the grace to get over that fear because i know how annoying it can be!

Actually, I slept with the room light on until I was 14. After that I cracked the door and gradually diminished the light.

My Uncle Jim used to play baseball about 40, 50 years ago or so. One night he was having a drink with this big, hulking guy, who could easily hit a home run. He asked my Uncle to walk him home.

"Why?"
"Because I'm scared of the dark"
"What, you a great big guy who can hit a home run?
"Yes, I'll admit it - I'm terrified of the dark "

If he ever got over his fear of the dark he wouldn't have had long to enjoy that release as he died when he was about 50.

( - Not meaning to turn this into a "I was older than you when I got over my fear of the dark so there :P " kind of thread)

See i like the dark. I love the dark. Complete silence. Ahh the beauty.

I am only afraid of churches in the dark. THey are for some reason inherently scary. I dont' think i would ever turn all the lights off if i didn't have to.
i haven't gotten over my fear of the dark. i doubt i ever will. (not to be discouraging, paladin. )
I think it took courage for you and Paladin D and Specter to share as you did. Sounds paradoxical, I know.

And isn't it so true that when someone shares a fear they have or had major trouble with or a problem you find that you're far from alone. Found that when I shared about my late bedwetting (11 yrs old).

Took a long time to really get over my fear of the dark. Still had a bit of a battle in my late teens and even, though to a lesser extent, in my early 20's so I can identify with what Paladin wrote in the first post.

God bless you Lil Red :)
