VeraMaria
It just made me angry. Another thing happened today. Today is a "teacher planning day" or something like that. So I don't have school. My cousin sent me an e-mail from Uruguay asking me to pray for a freind of hers whose Mother is dying of cancer. My house is being painted, and it was loud and noisy, so i took my bike and went to the church (called St. Therese the Little Flower Catholic Church) to pray a rosary for my cousin's friend's mother. It was so nice and peaceful inside, with a couple of people praying silently. I entered, knelt and said a rosary for her. Then, since I felt like it was needed, I prayed a Divine Mercy Chaplet afterwards. I was in front of a beautiful statue of the Sacred Heart after that, lighting a candle, and was about to leave when i heard a scratching sound. I turned around and a woman and a man were splashing holy water at each other. Then they made horrible signs at the Blessed Sacrament. Mocking it with really horrible signs. They must have seen my face, i was really shocked, as was everyone else in the church, which was not that many people. A young man stood up from where he had been kneeling and went over to them. Quietly he said something to them, but his eyes looked outraged. "Oh, we're not catholic!!" they said or something, and then the man said "If we feel like doing anything in your #@%$# church, then we do it, it's a free country." I just ran out. This upsets me. People are just....ARRRGGHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Lord, please help me forgive them. right now I feel angry, angry, angry.
Spiritual_Arsonist
You know, sometimes I feel the same way you do. I will go to Mass early so I can bask in the radiance of the Blessed Sacrament. The Senior Citizens of my parish will also come early because they have nothing better to do. They talk loudly and chat even when others are trying to pray. I feel your pain and astonishment. I will pray for you. You pray for me. Let us all pray for those people in the church mocking our Lord.

I think that is the most overused sentence in the English language. Just becasue we enjoy many freedoms in this country does not give someone the right to enter your church and mock it. A Church is private property, owned by the parish. In other words, IT IS NOT THEIRS. I would tell the priest and if they do it again he can get a court injunction against them to keep them off of the premises.
marielapin
"If we feel like doing anything in your #@%$# church, then we do it, it's a free country." These people don't know what free country means. This does not mean they have the right to come into a church, destroy or damage their property or upset the people there, just as they have no right to go into someone's house and do these things. These people should have been kicked out or the police should have been called. I believe this constitutes "disturbing the peace".
VeraMaria
If you could have seen what signs they made to the Blessed Sacrament, you would need a cup of hot tea to calm you down again. I'm really upset. I guess I shouldn't be. I'm probably just inexperienced. At 14, I've almost never met people who are so disrespectful of the Church as here in the US. But that's probably because before I lived in Uruguay and Mexico, predominantly catholic countries. When I lived in Germany for 5 years, there were a lot of people challenging the church in 99.9% Protestant North Germany. They would mock, sure, they would laugh, sure. But they are still Christians, and they wouldn't cross the line of disrespect to God, even in a Catholic church. Does that make any sense??
Jake Huether
I'd bring a whip next time. Christ drove the money changers out! We have a right to also!

If I were in your place I would be livid. I would hope I would have the strength to stand up to them if I were ever in your position, but I really couldn't say. Katholikos
. . . makes me so glad I believe the truth of Purgatory -- nobody skates! Nobody gets into heaven free! There is a penalty even for forgiven sins . . . Thanks be to God! Edited October 27, 2003 by Katholikos
ReformationNow
Actually, I believe they can be arrested for disturbing the sanctity of a Church or something like that. My church wouldn't have them arrested tho. But that's just us.
IXpenguin21
unfortunatly, even today Christ is being persecuted by those he set free from sin. it's an amazing paradox of love, and a love that we have to work to obtain for even those who aim at destroying truth, which is impossible. VeraMaria
It's hours later. And i'm still upset. Our newspaper is very anti-catholic. THe article about the pope celebrating his 25th Anniversary, i just read it, and it's...well....so opinionated that it shouldn't have been published. Whew, that guy's anti-catholic!!
Lil Red
Vera, is your newspaper online? Could you provide a link for us to read it? I'd love to send something in for the op ed page! :)
LTNgurl
havent you noticed now that while other religions are growing, and many catholics and/or christians arent following the religion like b4, the world is becoming worse? look around us, teen pregnancy, abortion, has risen? i think this world needs a little more catholic faith (to those who were "born" catholic) we wont stone a teenager if she gets pregnant out of wedlock..we are more peaceful than other religions..and like we said in my post(about the crucifix) we are more respectful towards other religions. Aloysius
rejoice and be glad Vera!!! for u are persecuted all because of Him. so they persecuted the prophets before you, so they persecuted Jesus before you. i don't get persecuted nearly as much as you do errr i donno, it's mixed feelings that im not persecuted as much...somewhat happy that all the people around me are not evil enough to wanna do that, but then a lil disapointed as I wanna follow in Christ's footsteps. anyway, take courage. and i'd say you would've had the right to whip them to get out. i believe it's just anger, like Christ's anger at the moneychangers. The Holy Gospel according to Saint Matthew Chapter 5 11 Blessed are ye when they shall revile you, and persecute you, and speak all that is evil against you, untruly, for my sake: 12 Be glad and rejoice for your reward is very great in heaven. For so they persecuted the prophets that were before you. :D B)
