:seesaw: :weep: Ever had one of tose days where you just...as much as I hate to admit it (and I hate it more that I'm feeling like this) just didn't want to do anything pleasing to God? Not sinning, but like, not wanting to think about your vocation, or praying for others, or anything like that. I'm actually not quite sure if those aren't sins, though, and that makes'em even worse! I just feel spiritually lethargic. Pray for me, and give me any advice if you have it.

Pray for the Graces that you need! Just simply say a prayer to Christ asking for the Graces that you need. That's all the advice I have right now.

I shall be praying for you! Actually, I'm off right now to pray the Rosary, I'll offer it up for you!

Ash Wednesday

Hey cttc,
You're not alone. Spiritual dryness happens to just about everyone. Mother Teresa and other saints had to bear it during their lives.

It's easy to pray during times of spiritual consolation -- but prayer during times of spiritual dryness take a great deal more effort -- and if I'm not mistaken those can be of greater merit in that sense.

So keep on plugging along and persevere. Even if the little prayers and acts are all you feel you can do. I've had times (still do sometimes) where I keep prayer very short and to the point because it's all I could muster. Just don't despair or give up.

He is a hint. This is more progress than you might realize.

It will take you a little while to understand, but this is part of the whole journey towards Christ. You have to learn to let go.

When you feel like this and nothing really seems to make sense, pray. it seems so impossible, words won't work to describe it, but you have to turn this back over to God.

For me it wasn't a day, or a week, it was more like half a year.

You just have to keep your head about the flood. When it doesn't seem like you can, pray more.

I wish i knew how to explain better.

Prayers.

if you need someone to talk to you can pm me. :)

Guess that fits into the "I know many things; I understand few" thing, huh?

Half a year? I know when we read of the saints that ain't long, but...wow.

Hehe, guess my new sig doesn't fit in well with the tone of this thread!

that's ok for the sig thing.

Yeah it was kinda like half a year. Some of the saints have the same thing for much longer than that.

I still don't understand everything, but i am beginning to.

If you would like to look up saints, John of the Cross, Teresa of Avila, Therese of lisieux are all great places to start.

Know something really, really cool? All those saint you mentioned? ALL ARE CARMELITES in one way or another...and that happens to be an order I'm looking into (the Discalced Carmelite Priests.) Either I'm drawing conclusions, or God has a sense of humor.

I hope it's humor; we have enough pictures of Chirst being so serious. :sheild: :saint: :jesus: :leave:

haha. That is kind of strange.

I feel a sort of special devotion to Carmel because my bday is really close to the feastday. Mine is july 14, just 4 days after yours. :)
