re: slavery...I was thinking something else. Obviously Mary has got her work cut out for her. :D

I used to say that morning consecration, but I haven't said much of anything recently. I need to memorize it.

Sorry, Tony...I didn't mean to talk past you. :)

I have grown a lot offering my days to Jesus. I used that very prayer. Unfortunately...the only prayers I've been praying recently have been prayers of action, and then, I'm too weak.

But enough self-pity. I'm just going to confide in Mom. :D

well St. Therese is my sister and she teaches me so much. but i really relate to how she felt about things. she said that when she read about these great saints from the times past...and saw the amazing things they did and how strong in character and virtue they were, she would get discouraged because she was so weak and couldn't do great things like they did. she could only do little things. remember my post in the picture thread about how she said she was too small/weak to climb the "rough stairway of perfection"? therese discovered that she would not be able to climb it...she would always fall. so she threw herself in the arms of God in trust (she called this her 'elevator' instead of climbing the stairs). this way, God Himself will carry her...she will get to the same place as the other saints did but by another path. when i look at myself i see much the same thing. i cannot do what those saints did. i am too weak and fall constantly. so i place myself totally in the hands of Jesus and Mary and trust they will carry me to sanctity in whatever way pleases them.

that quote from St. Francis de Sales expresses those thoughts very beautifully i think. in one sentence...he kind of sums up that long paragraph.

and my user name "corban" comes from Mk 7:11...it is the aramaic word meaning "offering" which is what i want my whole life to be. and if i ever get a band going...that is the name my friends and i want to use! so you can't take it. if you read Mk 7:11, it almost seems like not too good a thing because Jesus is rebuking the people. but what was happening was the people were supposed to be taking care of their parents but the money was "corban---given to God" that way they wouldn't have to take care of them and they could keep their wealth. that is why Jesus rebukes them...but the word "corban" itself is very beautiful. i always want to be corban---given to God...or an offering to Him however they decide to translate its meaning!

thanks :) i like you too! but St. Therese has totally changed my life and i have to almost constantly keep reading her to go deeper in her way. ever since i got to pray with her relics on Jan. 1st 2000 (when Y2K hit hehe)...i have been very close with her. so i have a huge therese collection. i have read story of a soul two and a half times, maurice and therese twice, therese by those that knew her twice, i believe in love too many times to count, etc...etc. and I have posters of her all over my room!!!! i really am obsessed with st. therese!!! no offense to the other saints, but therese picked me and i love her! :)
