False accusation

Dave

Recommended Posts

Not to speak for the dUSt man - who is at times very blunt, but maybe he meant that you shouldn't worry so much about what someone said about you...not that he doesn't care about You.

But, then again, I've been known to be wayyy offf base.

Take care ... prayers for you.
Dust, that was quite unnecessary and uncharitable.
Who cares as in you should say who cares not who cares as in who cares about Dave.

It's my motto. You should put it into practice once in awhile. It works great.

Well, if you knew just what it was that I was accused of you'd be changing your tune, probably. It's the type of thing that could escalate and seriously damage or destroy one's reputation.

Well, hopefully the pastor has done or will do something about it. How well do you get along with your pastor? Does your pastor support you in this matter?

Last I heard, Christ is not concerned with one's reputation. He is the one we should all be trying to make happy.

Christ isn't, but destroying reputations is a serious sin. Believe it or not, our reputations precede us. We are known before we are met by our reputation. Hence the no holding false witness, because lieing about somebody is destroying their reputation. Take every lump with a smile and a "thank you Lord" because it could be worse.

God bless,
Mikey

CCC 2487 confirms this (I need to get to bed so I won't type it out now; we as Catholics should all should have a copy anyway).

Another thing to remember is that if Dave (or anyone else, for that matter!) is involved or is trying to get involved in his parish, false accusations are an unnecessary distraction.

i kindly disagree. the Lord calls us to a high standard of holiness and righteousness, so people will see our behavior and works and glorify God because of it. if our testimony is damaged and our credibility hurt, people will not glorify God. i've seen how this works.

Well, Mulls, let me introduce you to St. Catherine of Sienna who was certainly maligned and her reputation destroyed and died without a single friend in the world . . . except Jesus. SHe is a Doctor of the Church today.

There are also Sts. Padre Pio, Lawrence Justinian, Angela Foligno, Bernardine of Siena, Peter Claver, Pius XII, and Joan of Arck . . . among others.
