False accusation

I agree. In fact, it might be an opportunity to get this person to either repent or at least tarnish his/her credibility so that if he/she tries it again on someone else, the future false accusations will be less likely to be believed. Plus it could also have the effect of justice for anyone else falsely accused by this person in the past.

OK, so it's a case of "malicious gossip". What about bringing this to the attention of the pastor so that he can insert in one of the homilies that repeating lies about someone is a sin????
