VeraMaria
Our youth group sometimes organizes the arrangments for weddings and baptisms. I was chosen to take a couple of pictures and make sure that it all looks "nice" for a wedding this afternoon. :D The bride was a Hispanic Catholic (she was radiant, she looked so happy!) and her groom was more Anglo; light hair, blue eyes, parents Protestant. The people in the church were half catholic (girl's parents, friends and relatives) and half Protestant (guy's parents, friends and relatives). So I'm in the back of the Church, wondering and marveling at the wonderful sacrament of marriage, and the moment of Consecration comes. And some of the Protestants start snorting and laughing. Loud. Sneering. Laughing at the Catholics in the church. Making rude comments about the Eucharist. Mocking. Loudly. I mean, come on, some respect!! OK, i don't know why i posted this . I just felt angry.

foundsheep
The reason I asked is the priest here wont do the eucharist unless both are catholic.

Thomas Michael
You had every right to be angry, Vera. That was totally uncalled for. If I was an usher there, I would have kicked those disrespectful jerks out immediately... I wouldn't care if they were part of the wedding party. VeraMaria
yeah i've seen several non-catholics during mass refuse to kneel at the consecration... if they only knew... i mean, even not kneeling is OK, their loss, but completely ruining it for everyone else by laughing rudely and saying loudly "so this is that catholic hokus-pokus thing?" or ludly yawning during consecration......this makes me MAD. I mean at least SOME respect!

Paladin D
Any idea how the Groom responded? How did the Priest respond? Edited October 27, 2003 by Paladin D
JP2Iloveyou
The reason I asked is the priest here wont do the eucharist unless both are catholic. Nothing against your priest or your diocese's policy, but I've never liked that. It's basicly saying that the Holy Sacrifice is less important than being policitally correct and not hurting anyone's feelings. I definitley want a Mass at my wedding should God be calling me to the married life. I don't care if my bride is Catholic or not. I mean, are we not going to ask Christ and the Holy Spirit to bless the marriage if a Christian and a Jew get married, or a Muslim, or a Budhist, or whatever? willguy
That is very uncalled for and very unChristian. It's one thing for them to not believe it. It's quite another for them to mock it, especially during the wedding of someone they know. I've been to several non-Catholic church services, and they have communion. I just sit respectfully and don't partake, but I don't make rude comments about it.
