Praise and Worship songs

peace be with you all!

well...i am sure this topic has been done before, but i am still pretty new here and i figured that even if it had been done, the lists could be updated. i play guitar and sing back up at my youth group and at a Mass for confirmation students on Sundays. so we use a lot of praise and worship songs and we try to play the best ones we know of. if you could do me the favor of listing some of your favorites it could be of great help to us as we try to make the music the best we possibly can. all we want to do, is respond to God's call to bring souls to Him through this apostolate He has given us. i think that most of the songs posted we know, but i might be able to learn a few more if you post ones i don't know. or, we will work harder at playing certain songs more if those are the ones that everyone seems to like. thanks for the help.

One of my favorites to use that many people haven't heard is Joe Zelek's "Just Like You" based on St. Augustine's prayer to the Holy Spirit. You can grab it on iTunes for 99cents.

Jars of Clay has some great worship... oy. Also try Third Day - they have two worship albums -- oh! and Newsboys has two worship albums as well. You can get all this on iTunes - if you double click the song title it will play a clip for you.
my favorite official worship song is Agnus Dei - usually sung during Benediction and Adoration.

These are all cool but try to check out some Catholic stuff as well at www.Catholicmusicnetwork.com or www.spiritandsong.com. IF you go to
http://www.puretracks.com/search2.aspx?t=0...critical%20mass
there is some stuff there as well from Critical Mass, particularly off of the Faith Looks Up/Mass of Joy CD.

Also, since it's Lent, we re-did "Were You There" the old African spiritual hymn and it was really powerful at mass ...

luckyyy :o

Once Lent is done, I am toally going to play "advent" at the next adoration we get for our youth ... if that ever gets going ...

Okay so I tend to lack in good writing skills for P&W songs so I look through the binders our parish has that the "older generation" plays at the earlier mass, and I found this song called, "O Sacrament Most Holy" and the lyrics just rock, so I made up my own little chord progression w. the same ones on the song and made up a different tune. So maybe that will help you get some songs for mass and adoration ... as if you don't have enough!

i try to write songs all the time...sometimes Our Lord and Our Lady allow me the pleasure to write some good music...but lyrically I am terrible. and i am not the best singer anyways so even when i have a great idea for a song I can't always sing it. :(
