A new accusation against the Church
Question: Is the God the Father, humble?
Of course, God is humble, perfectly so actually. Humility is not being self-depricating its being self-appreciating. Self-knowledge is true humility or rather generates it as St Teresa of Avila touches upon in the first mansion of her 'Interior Castle'. The great saints did not call themselves sinners because they really thought they were something else but because they knew themselves and knew how much human beings depend on God. Likewise God has perfect knowledge of Himself and thus He is never anything other than humble. The same God who says to Job 'where were you when I created the world?' is the same God who says 'follow me for I am meek and humble of heart'. Jesus was no less humble when he whipped the money changers because he was always true.

Before reading the replies, I thought up of a reply that was pretty much on the lines of what you guys said. However, the replies really helped since I tend to have a problem with wording things. :D

Myles, the humility clarification was very interesting.

Gee, you must be arguing with people who have never had proper religious instruction. I pray that the grace given to the saints is given to you.

"Instruct the ignorant." I pray that we never run out of patience!

They aren't exactly Christians.

One terribly practical and boring thought:

Its marketing. When you throw a charity dinner, you make exponentially more money when you serve expensive food, have a nice venue, and dress nicely than when you just set up some chairs in a gym. Rich people are more likely to donate more money in grand cathedrals than in a rinky-dink gymnasium.
Glory, Humility, and Beauty are not mutually exclusive.
Where does glory and beauty cross the line into excess and thus separate themselves from humility?

God Conquers

Difficult to say....

Probably if glory and beauty were not accidental, but sought after for their own sake.

Like if the point of making a Cathedral was to make the richest, most expensive building just because we want to and can, or if God sought glory for its own sake and was not deserving of it, then I'd say you've crossed the bounds of humility.
