theculturewarrior
I would be interested in knowing if we have any converts from Satanism or the occult. That would make an interesting convert story.
geetarplayer
The interesting thing about Satanism is that they're essentially Catholics--or at least Christians--who are just rooting for the other team. Ugh... I get the chills just thinking about it. -Mark
kjvail
I was a Wiccan for many years, is that what you are looking for?
theculturewarrior
That's interesting! Did you cast spells? What is Wicca?
Good Friday
I was involved in the occult prior to my conversion.

Ugh... I get the chills just thinking about it. -Mark
I was just going to say the same thing... There was a movie I saw once, where Satan came and was like blah blah blah...I'm the world's first humanist...blah blah blah...You can't trust God...blah blah blah. I thought, "Even if you can't trust God, what makes you think you can trust Satan, the embodiment of evil?"
spathariossa
Modern Satanism really is just a doctrine of selfishness with some magic elements added. They don't recognize Satan as the Satan of the bible but instead say he is so uncreated being - like a very selfish and theologically unsound God. popestpiusx
I was an apprentice to a vodoo Witch doctor growing up as a boy on the south west side of Mbandaka, Congo. But the pay pretty much sucked so I got into landscaping instead.
Sanvean
I was raised in the occult, and was a Slavic Reconstructionist Pagan until the end of my gr.12 year.

Tink
I was Wiccan. Hardcore, man. WIccan is a tough spot to get out of because it makes you feel good. It makes you feel right. Everything was about drawing off of emotions for me.
Chris Zewe III
Hum...a few things. 1) Satanism isn't devil worship. Go to churchofsatan.org, or something to that extent for more info. I bought into this for, oh, a day or two. 2) Conversions... Well, I was into devil worship for a bit. Someone said I thought, "Even if you can't trust God, what makes you think you can trust Satan, the embodiment of evil?". It's not a matter of trust with devil worship. You worship Satan more or less out of respect and because you dislike nonsensical Christian laws. What isn't appealing about a deity who stands up to presumably the most powerful being in existence? I eventually got out of that because [we don't talk like that here] 3) I was into Wicca for about a year and a half, and it was pretty much the only time that I felt complete. Looking back, I honestly don't know why I got out of it... I'm realistic now, though, so I'm an atheist. Conversiontastic.
For someone who was into the occult(Well, actually, two years or so is peanuts), I'm suprised at your misrepresentation. There are as many paths of Satanism as there are Satanists... were you even involved in the Satanic community for the brief period that you were a devil worshipper... or did you just read a bunch of web sites thinking that made you an expert? Theistic Satanism is real and flourishing. Some Satanism isn't devil worship. Some Satanism is. Generalizations are dangerous.

I don't mean flourishing in that there is some sort of random satanic conspiracy to take over the world. That's just ridiculous. I hate to break it to you, though, there is definitely a strong, although small, intact Satanict community out there, even of the Theistic variety.
