i had this discussion with a few of my friends and i just wanted ya alls input.........i know that EAstern rite has apostolic succession......but do eastern orthodox.....i thought that they didn't.....but what do i know.........any of ya know

The Orthodox Church has valid apostolic succession. That is why, with permission of bishops in extraordinary situations, they can take communion at a Catholic church.

Why do the Bishops restrict it?

Since the Eastern Orthodox Churches are not in full communion with the Catholic Church it follows that a member of one of those Churches is not normally permitted to take communion in the Catholic Church. However, in certain grave situations (e.g., danger of death) a Catholic priest may give communion to a member of an Eastern Orthodox Church, but this may only be done when the man in question is unable to receive communion from a priest of his own Church, and when he has expressed fully the Catholic faith as it concerns the nature of the sacrament.
