I think my suggestion of keeping an unusual personal issue private was a good one. It's a touchy subject, and one that children and adolescents are not adequately equipped to deal with. Presenting the subject with an air of legitimacy is a mistake. Church teaching is clear that homosexual activity is a no-no. Ambiguous behavior could serve to confuse and delude young people even if unintentionally presented as legitimate. You have to be careful.
On the other hand, heterosexual activity is right and proper within marriage. Discussing this in a sensitive, general manner should be encouraged in the phorum or the Q&A section. More frank discussions can be had in the NFP, among adults. It is not to a person's credit to use sexually suggestive language in public, and this applies in the forums.
The plain and simple truth is that heterosexuality is a-okay. Can't get around that fact. Legitimizing homosexual activity or the lifestyle is a fruitless endeavour on a Catholic forum.
The parties could have commiserated over PM or e-mail, and that would have been much less annoying for everyone.
I dealt with it as a child and an adolescent and I'm not dead - so clearly adolescents and children are equipped to deal with these issues.

Sorry if my existence isn't legitimate.
I'd thank you to refer to me with my legal name. I don't care whether you see this or not but the simple fact of the matter is you continually ignore that I don't have SSA. I never have and I never will. Enjoy yourself off of Phatmass, maybe one of these days you'll actually have a difficulty in your life that will give you the gifts of compassion and charity. I seriously doubt it however. And yet Ironmonk's post remains unedited. There's a shocker... <_<

Stop being so mean. Who cares? Why is everyone so picky on who/what gets edited? There's more important things in life, no?

I'm not being mean. I'm just giving everyone else the same lack of understanding that they give me with their wide generalizations and facile understandings of complex problems. I refuse to believe that this behavior is anything but malicious - to believe otherwise would imply that these people are all complete idiots and I don't feel that way.

I'm with ya' spathariossa. Not that probably means anything.....I've been down this type of road with others....honestly, the best thing that I ever did was drop it and let people do what they will do.

ok, taking it from a standpoint of the status quo and the maintaining of it, teens, especially children, may not be equipped to realize the myriad problems of being a transsexual, homosexual, or whatever. It's not the norm, and speaking of it as if it were could lead to the mistaken conclusion that it is. So we need to be prudent about where we post our problems.

You're absolutely right. I should never even pretend I'm anything approaching normal. From now on I'll act like a medieval leper! I'll ring a bell and shout out that I'm unclean whenever I approach other human beings. That way they'll know that my life is horribly abnormal and detrimental.

you won't need a bell if you complain loud enough.
And no, transgenderism (or whatever it's called, hard to keep it straight) is not 'normal' in the sense that most people don't have to deal with it. I'm sorry you do.

You're not helping your case by being snarky.

This would actually be quite funny. I'd call in sick and follow you around for a day just for the experience of it.

You're not helping your case by being intractable, unsympathetic, uncharitable, and ignorant and by drawing on base generalizations.

in·trac·ta·ble (n-trkt-bl) adj. 1. Difficult to manage or govern; stubborn. 2. Difficult to alleviate, remedy, or cure.

I had to look that one up.

LOL

Sorry, my vocabulary becomes more complex the more irritated I become. When I start saying that you're an obsequious sycophant then you know I'm mad.
