Anybody gonna check this flick out? It stars Keanu Reeves and Rachel Weisz. It will be released February 18th. Click here to see the trailer and read the synopsis. Looks like its got alot of Catholic imagery in it like many movies dealing with demons and angels.

It is based on a comic book from DC comics from what I read. I'm a bit too interested in the preternatural, occult, exorcisms, demonology, etc so I'll definitely go see it.
John Constantine has been to hell and back.

Born with a gift he didn’t want, the ability to clearly recognize the half-breed angels and demons that walk the earth in human skin, Constantine (KEANU REEVES) was driven to take his own life to escape the tormenting clarity of his vision.  But he failed.  Resuscitated against his will, he found himself cast back into the land of the living.  Now, marked as an attempted suicide with a temporary lease on life, he patrols the earthly border between heaven and hell, hoping in vain to earn his way to salvation by sending the devil’s foot soldiers back to the depths.

But Constantine is no saint.  Disillusioned by the world around him and at odds with the one beyond, he’s a hard-drinking, hard-living bitter hero who scorns the very idea of heroism.  Constantine will fight to save your soul but he doesn’t want your admiration or your thanks – and certainly not your sympathy.

All he wants is a reprieve.

When a desperate but skeptical police detective (RACHEL WEISZ as Angela Dodson) enlists his help in solving the mysterious death of her beloved twin sister (also played by Weisz), their investigation takes them through the world of demons and angels that exists just beneath the landscape of contemporary Los Angeles.  Caught in a catastrophic series of otherworldly events, the two become inextricably involved and seek to find their own peace at whatever cost.
Sounds Anti-christian to me. Bad theology, good plot? Not a chance. Guy can see half demon half angel humans? Commits suicide? Fights evil.

Heaven Doesn't want him, Hell can't hold him!

Dun dun duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun!!!

let me know what you guys think.

It definitley has bad theology. It is a Hollywood film after all. I don't know, I'll probably wait for the dvd to come out and see it then.

I'm so sick of these movies. How many Apocalyptic movies about people who are "in the know" about demons can Hollywood make? Didn't they already make this movie? Lost Souls? Stigmata? The Order?

And on and on...

I wouldn't be so irritated. Don't you find it amusing that it's always the Catholics who know about demons and true evil and salvation while the protestants aren't even mentioned? Sure, the Catholics are hiding the truth half the time, but that's just for plot reasons. We all know that if the Church had proof of demons running around that were 100% tangible that the authorities would show the evidence immediately and everyone would become Catholic.

For some odd reason, I thought it would be a Matrix knock off when i saw the trailers. Hey, it even stars Keanu Reeves (he should just retire before he assaults my eyes with his horrible acting).

If I do see it, it'll probably be a rental.

Yes Hollywood does seem to make alot of these films. I don't really care as long as they don't bash the Church. At least two of the movies that you mentioned weren't very sympathetic to Catholicism. Although its hard to tell from watching just the trailer this particular film doesn't seem to bash the Church.

I agree with Spathariossa also. Whenever a film deals with angels and demons the Catholic Church seems to be involved in the plot one way or another.

I had the same thought when I watched the trailer: This is The Matrix but instead of machines it has angels and demons. I will probably see it.
