Considering with what ease RF beat Murray in the semi-finals, I have high hopes for tonight's match (or tomorrow morning's match, as the case may be. :)). He should be able to beat Rafa without TOO much trouble. He's been playing beautifully, this Open. :)

I figured out a bunch from just watching, but it's making more sense now that I asked my mom some questions and she explained more. I'm quite enjoying myself. Here are a couple more questions:

1) What do they keep saying when the score is 15-15 or 30-30? They call out "30 [word I can't understand because Australians appear to do weird things with vowels]" What is that word?

2) Can a ball be on the line and still not out? How is out of bounds defined exactly?

And an interesting tidbit from my mom: She knew one family growing up who never hit balls out of bounds because they had a custom built court at their home with the lines 6 cm farther in than normal.

"All", maybe?

(And yeah, we kind of do :P)

1) What do they keep saying when the score is 15-15 or 30-30? It's kind of hard to explain. Wiki explains it well - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tennis_score#Description They call out "30 [word I can't understand because Australians appear to do weird things with vowels]" What is that word? It could be "love" -- "love" means zero. (Why do tennis players never get married? - Because love means nothing to them. :hehe2:)

2) Can a ball be on the line and still not out? How is out of bounds defined exactly? The baselines are at either end of the court, and any ball that lands beyond a baseline is considered out of bounds. If the ball lands on the baseline, it is considered in bounds and is still in play.

And an interesting tidbit from my mom: She knew one family growing up who never hit balls out of bounds because they had a custom built court at their home with the lines 6 cm farther in than normal.
