Latria, Dulia, And Hyperdulia

I know that latria is the worship we give to God, dulia is the honor we show to the saints, and hyperdulia is the honor we show to the Blessed Virgin.

Of course, when we honor Our Lady or any other saint, we honor God. Thus, could it be said that each act of dulia or hyperdulia is at the same time an act of latria directed toward Our Lord? In other words, are we actually worshiping God when we honor the saints? Or is it just honor to the saints and nothing more?

Interseting thought. I've never considered it that way before, but I guess in a sense it is true. We are honoring God's work in those people, and we are also using a gift that God has given us (a sign of honor and thanks). I personally havve thanked God for giving us Mary and the saints as intercessors, but I think that anytime we ask them to intercede for us we are honoring God because, as I said, we are using a gift that He has given us.

No!!!

Latria is the honor and worship we give to GOD ALONE!! When we honor the saints we honor God, but we honor him THROUGH DULIA . . .

Jinkeys!! What I'm saying is that dulia and hyper dulia are NOT at the same time LATRIA . . . that's why they're hyperdulia and dulia . . .

All praise and worship and honor goes to God . . . when you honor your parents, you are honoring God . . . but that is NOT Latria . . .

Which I thought I had made perfectly clear in my post . . . you know, in the part you didn't quote . . .

Well, you made it clear, but it also seemed apparent, due to the forcefulness of the part of your response that I quoted, that you thought my understanding of latria was all screwed up and that I was asking if we give latria to the saints (which, BTW, I've always known we don't do).
