Sword fighting is NOT more honorable. I've trained in fencing, kendo, and the Medieval Martial Arts and I can tell you that it is about killing another human being. It is a stretch to ever call that honorable. But even so, there is nothing less honorable about using a gun just because it kills from a distance. In fact I don't think honorable is ever the word with killing people. In the end, the justification for killing is what matters. The method doesn't change the justification.

That being said - I like swords better.
I think you would agree that it is honorable to due one's duty. And it must be admitted that occasionally one's duty is fulfilled by killing another human being (self defense, defending an innocent person, just war, legitimate state execution, etc.). Ergo, it can be said that there are circumstances in which the act of killing another person is, in fact, honorable.

In that case it would be doing one's duty that would be honorable not the act of killing. :P

I don't think the two can be separated. You can't say that the abstraction (the doing of one's duty) is honorable, but the specified act one must complete in order to "do one's duty" (in this case, killing someone) is somehow not honorable.

You don't need to grab one in Europe. Some of the best makers are in the US. The best reproduction European swords in existence are sold here:

Another good place for high quality swords is from Angus Trim: http://www.allsaintsblades.com

There are also some really good custom makers like Peter Johnsson or Vince Evans.
