jezic
ohh really. Have you ever used it in cunjuction with conventional medicine? What is so bad about it? Saying don't do it doesn't help much.
crusader1234
Holistic medicine works, and I highly reccomend it. Of course, if you're talking New Age Mysticism with like 'place sage on your belly', thats wrong. But taking holistic remedies is defiantely a good alternative. ESPECIALLY a good alternative to antibiotics.
Socrates
I was thinking about that "manipulating energy fields" type stuff. Some alt medicine is good, but there are a lot of quacks out there.
jezic
yes the whole energy field thing can get dangerous. THere are also many people who go to far. Personally i am not so sure anymore. I don't see it as truly bad, however it has a great potential for evil. Some peolple might wonder how, but it really depends "who" besides the person is doing the healing. Energy will naturally flow from one body to another without even conscious thought however asking some outside force to do the work is where the danger comes in. MichaelFilo
What other way would you get energy to transmit other than that or cables? God bless, Mikey
Guest Aluigi
my gf is always eatin "organic food" and soy milk and all this crazy natural stuff. I told her if there was less hippy terminology I wouldn't mind. If it wasn't organic/natural, but rather called medieval, I'd be all for it (cuz they grew stuff naturally back in medieval times )
jezic
i like soymilk. I was more interested if anyone thinks that holistic medicine contradicts Catholic beliefs. anyone want to take a stab at it? please ....
Socrates
Transcendental meditation and similar hinduistic New Age practices can be spiritually very dangerous. Most practices probably do not contradict the Church, but many are of dubious scientific/medical value (that's another debate though). "Holistic medicine" can include a wide variety of practices. You have to be more specific to discuss moral value.
jezic
k then start with something specific, have you ever heard of reiki? I don't mean the spiritual aspect of it that is neo-new age. i mean more the actual practice.
jezic
wait, sorry that isn't a good one. IN reiki they are intrinsically linked. there is not one without the other. hm...... stuff like acupuncture doesn't really have spiritual sides. It is simply the flow of energy which has documented effects...... transcendental meditation can be bad yes, but it is strange because it closely mirrors Christian meditation with a few twists. Don't quote me on that though cause i am not sure. I don't know a whole lot about it. um.... other than that most of the stuff that i think of is a combination of simple energy stuff and then just natural remedies for stuff. Guest Aluigi
no, reiki is gravely immoral and should never be practiced. it is inseperable with the new age and poisonous to the soul. stay away from that.
jezic
i understand that now. I have heard things about it. My bout with reiki was wierd though. I don't think i ever really understood why it was bad because i never knew what it was. To me something like that is more like praying a healing prayer while touching someone but the spirituality of the reiki stuff didn't make sense. which was a good thing. I still don't see how it is so wrong, but before anyone goes to far, it is because i still don't understand it and i don't want to anymore. It is simply another thing in the world that should be avoided. Some reiki concepts are not so evil though. I wonder how the rest of it got so messed up. crusader1234
Accupuncture isn't evil. I've had it done, and its quite effective. Anyways, Aloysius, why are you so up against being a hippy? If you spend your whole life avoiding labels you're going to look a plum fool. I (try to) eat organic, but I also end up eating quite a lot of McDonalds. Also, Soy milk is far far far better for you than regular milk. It also tastes better, IMO.
