Theoketos
I can't bother reading any fiction novels. For shame... Story telling is an instrinsic part of Culture! Myths are not simply lies spun with silver but a narrative thread by which we live and the story of the whole of humanity is told. The one true and greatest myth is Christinanity! IcePrincessKRS
They are very light reading. I got the whole series as a gift one Christmas when I was about 10-12, and I read all 7 books in a week and a half...I couldnt put them down Yeah, the whole family went through them! I remember having to wait for Daddy to finish a couple of them so I could get my hands on 'em. lol
cmotherofpirl
I can't bother reading any fiction novels. Then you will miss out on the greatest Christian writer of the 20th century.
marielapin
My favorite character from the books (besides Aslan) is the mouse king, which I can't for the life of me remember his name.

Theologian in Training
Actually reading these fictional novels are helping me balance the heavier reading I still have to do. Jean Corbon's "The Wellspring of Worship," and some of Ratzinger's stuff makes much more sense, and is easier to read because my personal reading is so light. Something I have certainly learned for the future. In order to understand, you need to balance light and heavy. God Bless
BlueRose
*comes into the thread a bit late* I read the chronicles a few years back ,and loved every single one. I hear the series entitled "The Seventh Tower" is also worthwhile in a similar category. I have the books and am about to start reading.
Theologian in Training
Really loving these books, halfway through "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe." Now they all found out about this "secret world" of Narnia, not just Lucy and Emund...good stuff. God Bless
Birgitta Noel
Theo! I'm a bit late coming in here, but I'm so glad you've found Narnia! Once you're done you should check out some of Lewis' Letters to Children and some of his non-fiction. If you ever are in Oxford be sure to visit all his old haunts and his home (at least from the outside). There's a lake behind it where he and Tolkein conjured up a lot of his tales. I had a tutorial in the house in 1997, and now the house seems to be open to the public by appointment check out http://www.cslewis.org/programs/summersem/kilns.html One can take the bus there from the train station to Risinghurst, but I can't remember the street where you have to tell the driver to stop. If you are interested let me know and I'm sure I can find out that little detail for you. And of course there are the movies about Lewis. My CS Lewis tutor was in Shadowlands! In a fleeting but funny moment! Sigh, from the webpage it looks like it's changed a bit since I was there, wish I could go visit again soon! Didacus
Read them myself with the kids. They were great. I wish they would have made more movies of them if anything.
