Laudate_Dominum
Is it just me or do I need an editor? I am happy to say that I am taking a class on writing this semester so hopefully the readability of coherence of my posts will improve.

I understand what you're saying . . . but how about this . . . If I'm hungry, really really hungry, and I see a delicious and enticing plate of food that is not mine, it could induce me to sin . . . I could steal the food, I could want to take the food and rub it all over me, it could entice me to gorge myself on some food that is mine . . . Of course, in those situations we would all say "Shame on you, control yourself." But when it comes to women who are half naked we say "Shame on them, they're provoking you." Personally, I think there should be more beautiful half naked women walking around . . . becasue would probably remind me that beauty is not something I can posess, that looking at beautiful women isn't as enjoyable as loving them, and that recognizing human dignity means wanting to see MORE of them, not less . . . (this thought is coming from the pope who says that the problem with pornography is not that it shows too much, but rather that it doesn't show enough). jiyoung
laudate. marry me now. lol jk. but praise God that there's at least one guy around that thinks this... yes women are at fault too, but this is more of a societal thing. it's a vicious cycle. but generally provocative dress comes from a desire to be sexy, to fit a norm of beauty, which really stems from a desire to be loved. and so women have this false idea of what love is--if a guy is paying attention, by whatever means, she's loved. but it's a very shaky validation so they show more and more and eventually give their bodies, yet there's still no fulfillment...i think this is where promiscuity really stems from. and i've strayed from the topic. the problem with the beautiful women in such catalogues is that you cant appreciate their full beauty. you cant see their souls in the pictures. and so you feed a false image of beauty... [/quote] All this talk about food is pushing me over the edge.. ok, I'm finally signing off for the night, for the sake of food! That's a great quote from the Holy Father. I must say about the other thing. Well, this thing: 'But when it comes to women who are half naked we say "Shame on them, they're provoking you."' I didn't mean to say something like that. I don't assume that women have a conscious intention of causing people to sin, that's not the way I think it should be looked at. I realize that its just the style of dress in our society or whatever. I don't think women should all dress with skirts that cover their ankles or anything like that. If I had one wish regarding this sort of thing it would be that all men could behold a naked woman and see an image of God, an icon of God's love, and give Him praise in their hearts. jgirl
You know what I do with the catalogues when I get them? I pitch them because it's pretty clear that they are geared toward men, and even the real clothes they sell in there are pretty trashy. However, the free underwear coupons rock! I just think it's funny that the free coupons come addressed to my dad (at my condo where my dad has never lived)! I'm on the free perfume coupon mailing list. IcePrincessKRS
I have nothing against good quality under-garments. That doesn't mean that I approve of their marketing methods, though.
