Laudate_Dominum
I think they're geared at men. The men in turn make their wives buy the stuff.
I heard this song on the radio the other day and one of the lines in it was: "I need a lady on the streets but a freak in the sheets". I've been pondering the meaning and implications of this statement off and on ever since...
homeschoolmom
The point is that (their target) women want to look sexy, and if the underwear and model looks sexy, they'll buy the underwear.
I think their models look scary... If I was a guy, I'd run the other way... they're mean...

MichaelFilo
I don't know, but being fit is something common to all generations as a sign of beauty. In some cultures however, being plump was a sign of wealth, but that isn't being good looking. Beauty is relaly on the inside, it's true, but being fit and taking care of yourself is nothing wrong either. Our view of women though looks more like anorexic is the look in town... God bless, Mikey
I dunno. I tend to think that plump is beautiful, as is fit and all that. It really depends on the individual in my opinion. Also I think if you are truly in love with a woman it doesn't matter that she has some rolls, they are actually beautiful because they are part of her.. Maybe I'm weird, but I don't think so. I think the beauty of the female body goes beyond one narrow body type, and just because someone is plump doesn't mean they aren't fit, some races tend to be plump, like Eskimos, and I'm sure the men look for that in a woman. hehe And on the other side of the coin, I recall riding horses with these two girls, one of which was incredibly skinny. Her frame was so thin it was truly unusual, you might say she looked "anorexic" though I doubt she actually was. Anyway, I thought there was something quite elegant and striking about her unique figure, I'd say she was very beautiful, so it goes both ways. Birgitta Noel
Yes, you definitely rock! When I was dating my hubby I was lamenting one night that I was too fat and that I wished I were more beautiful for him. His reply, "If you were any thinner and more sexy I REALLY wouldn't be able to keep my hands off of you!" LOL, needless to say I was flattered. MichaelFilo
Yes being fit and taking care of yourself is different for differen tpeople. I can only agree. Each body type is different and special in it's own way. As I've realized tha tmy call to chastity is eternal, I tend to less notice body or ifgure and just notice the person. However, a person who doesn't take care of themseleves, (not neccessarly meet beauty requirements) is hardly able to be considered beautiful, because if you neglect yoru body, a gift from God, then your personality is sure to follow suit. Laudate_Dominum
Dang. I still disagree. Many saints had an extreme neglect for their body, which when I read about it is beautiful in some way. And it seems like you're assuming that someone who isn't fit doesn't take care of their body, that's just not true. And some people have little control over such things, for example someone living in a country where famine is the norm is likely going to be quite underweight, but this doesn't imply anything about their personality. But I think what you meant is that if someone is a lazy slob, and it shows, they must not have a great personality, but again, I've met people who disprove this assertion. I'm not trying to be difficult, I just firmly believe it is possible to appreciate unique beauty in everyone. And I mean in the totality of the person, their soul as well as their personality and body.
MichaelFilo
Oh well yes, there are exceptions to every generalization. Yes some saints did neglect their body, but for holy reasons. Not caring is not holy. Not willing to care isn't holy either. I think we can agree people ar emostly beautiful on the inside, not the outside. However, I just don't see how a person can be beautiful if they don't take care of themselves ( except as you have stated, out of famine, or for holier reasons ). There is something quite beautiful about a woman who realizes God gave her a gift and she tries to take care of it. I don't think I've met a woman yet who is beauitiful on the inside and not beautiful on the outside (and beauty is in the ey of the beholder). However, I just can't see a woman as beautiful if she isn't willing to take care of herself anymore than I can imagine a guy who is handsome if he doesn't take care of his body and shape. Being unhealthy when you can be otherwise is one of the ugliest things ever. It is an attack on the internal from the external. It is disrespect to a gift that God has given, in my opinion. Ourbodies will all be glorified on the last day, this is true, but as for now, a person who respect their body and keeps it in shape and healthy is really what I imagine beautiful to be. God bless, Mikey PS. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so you make your comments, and I think I'll stop going on about this.
BLAZEr
are you all for real? I love seeing half naked, beautiful, voluptuos women parading around in sexy underwear. I know I want more than that, but heck . . . for myself and for them! But seriously, you really hate this? What's wrong with you?
littleflower+JMJ
ugh! tina and i were at the mall today hello?! A&F?! whats up with trying to sell clothes by posting models with NO clothes on?!! reverse psychology doenst' work too well on some ppl :shame: not to mention the store looked like a museum lol anyways, its so sad when the stores themselves (especially the lingerie department :irate: ) is literally soft porn...you dont even wnat to know what we saw in some store windows for a glamour shop ad  and you dont have to "get use to it" if you speak up, ask to talk to the manager, tell them your concerns, you might be surprised (tina has doneit more than once whoo hoo!!) and if more ppl speak up--they wouldn't be up there for long ithink.... but yes, Victoria cannot keep a secret for the life of anyone lol and sean.... :thumb:

What's wrong with you?
LOL!! That was classic BLAZEr! Alright, let the truth be told.. I imagine were I to look through a Victoria's Secret catalogue I might believe I was experiencing a foretaste of heaven. But on another level, I fear the allure of twisted beauty, because in that context the enjoyment of such carnal aesthetic value becomes a subtle lie which can so easily seduce the heart. What I'm trying to say is that, when it comes to feminine figures, there is a fine line between appreciating the beauty of God's creation and consenting to inordinate interior dispositions. It is the apprehension of this inner tension, and not the beauty of the female body as such, that causes a kind of aversion. This is my experience anyway; call it fear of the occassion of sin. And since the beauty of love and holiness is indeed the highest beauty, it makes sense that the qualities of seductive sensuality and/or immodesty might become a "turn-off" to a man because he has known the higher and true beauty, thus being predisposed to detect the counterfeit. Although I can hardly say I am immune to the snares of lust and passion. And indeed, to make this distinction between feminity in the context of purity and modesty, and feminity in a mode of erotic allure, is not to say that the modest and pure form excludes passion and sensuality, the difference is that in the former case these dynamisms are ordered toward their proper end, therefore it is evident why the latter case can be described as "disordered".
