Just a fun poll to compliment some of these current debates. It was kind of hard to decide exactly what categories to use as choices. Feel free to explain or clarify your choices.

Lest there be confusion/offense, Choice D is worded as it is to apply to people who are strongly opposed to the traditional form of American, etc, government, as opposed to conservatives who have distributist leanings. (If I'm making any sense here!)
(People who think Pat Buchanan is a liberal sell-out, etc.)

I'm typically a Conservative, but there are a few major things I disagree with my party about. I guess I'll call it Liberal tendencies, not quite being Moderate, but somewhere in between.

some of these terms are in completely different categories.

some are economic systems, some are perspectives, some are forms of government

for example:
monarchist: that means a specific form of government
distirbutist: that means an economic system
socialist: that means an economic system
liberal: is a perspective that affects one's view on form of government and economic systems. they tend to be closer to or socialist, they tend to be anywhere from democratic to anarchist
conservative: is a perspective that affects one's view on form of government, anywhere from republic to constitutional monarchy to full out monarchy and view on economics can be anywhere from capitalist to distributist
libertarian: is a political party, tends to be quite liberal

lol.. the poll is comparing apples and oranges basically. I got no good answer ;)
People can be monarchists w/o being distributist.
Very true.
As I said, it was hard choosing what labels to use in the poll.
I was using more general categoies in order to avoid making a ridiculously long list of options.

Choice D. was intended as a sort of blanket option for any people who are very opposed to the whole American system, and wouldn't identify themselves as "conservatives" in the usual sense of the word, but are opposed to socialism and the Left.

It's more about how you would generally label yourself.

A conservative monarchist. (If that makes any sense) Though further explanation would be in order. Unfortunately, I'm trying to write an article so I'm not going to explain any more right now.

again, these terms are all different types of things. the poll really isn't good. conservatives can beccapitalists or distributists, republicans or monarchs. liberals can be socialists or communists, anarchists or democrats, libertarians or whatever. can't libertarians be socialists too, idk? but regardless, we need a new poll. if you wanna ask about what people think about government, it's like monarchy or republic or democracy or anarchy. if you wanna ask what people think about economics, it's like socialist or capitalist or distributist. if you wanna ask their political party, it's republican or democrat or libertarian. if you wanna ask their political perspective it's conservative or liberal.

OK, my poll smells of elderberries!
It's pretty poorly worded I think.
Everybody forget I ever posted the darn thing!

The basic reason I set it up was to sort of get a feel for the general "political demographics" of this site. Some have complained phatmass is overwhelmingly conservative/Republican. But I persoally have felt that this is not really true and that there are quite a variety of views on this site.

Since I can't just delete the poll, I'll try to clarify:

Conservative: General American sense of the term - "right-wing" Republican to Constitution Party. Or Thatcherite Brit
Liberal: General American sense of the term: left-leaning, Democrat.
Socialist: Hard Left, socialist
Distributist/etc.: - Medieval-type politics - those who are radically opposed to all modernity (think Don John)
Libertarian: Gov't should be extremely limited. Privatize everything.
Anarchist: All government is evil and should be done away with
