M.SIGGA
This is pretty sadd, Once when I was 12 it was my younger brother's First COnfession Mass and the priest invited all the parents and family members to revieve the Sacrament of Confession along with the little kids. He made his first confession and first communion in an old traditional church that attached to his elementary school - anyway I was not used to those traditional confession booths where the priest is behind a screen. So I kneeled in front of the screen really nervously and I confessed all my sins and I remember had a few I was really scared to tell, but I got threw all of it and I was feeling GREAT!!! (Also b/c the priest didn't lecture me about those sins - this was sad, b/c now I like to priest to council me). I soon noticed the priest had not said anything the whole time and about a minute later the screen openned and a voice said ''When was your last confession?'' The really sadd thing is that this was not the only time
Norseman82
I used to write down lists and bring them in with me so I wouldn't forget. I do the list thing too (and put it through the shredder when I get home).

jmjtina
ya know when i was little, I used to write down ALL my sins as I went throughout the day, so when confession came I had down all my sins. My priest LOVED teasing me about my list and mispelings!!! Also, my bro and sisters use to have this game that whoever had the most sins written down won! What did we win? nothing but that was kinda wierd, b/c it should have been whoever had the LEAST!!!!
jmjtina
i don't get nervous either anymore. Only when I can't find my list that i haven't thrown away!!!!! Once we went to confession and the walls were so thin we could hear my sister confess We tried turning up the fan etc to make noise so we couldn't hear her but she was so loud! (the ones who went next whispered) When she came out I said, "I didn't know you did that in 3rd grade!" "I forgot, and now I remembered" was all she said. BLAZEr
I'm the kind that gets all nervous and forgets his sins . . . I remember telling a priest once "I'm much worse than that, really, I just can't remember everything!" So I tend to pray to my Guardian Angel to whisper all my sins in my ear so I can remember them. Also, Vianney, I know what you mean about the Seminary priests. All I can say is that for me, I decided that my being afraid of going to priests who I knew well was a form of my pride, wanting everyone near me to think I was a great and holy guy. I decided I had to go to them so that I could humiliate my pride. It worked . . . sort of . . . now I work at a Parish and I'm afraid of going to my Pastor! LOL . . . oh silly silly sinful pride! God Deliver us from our self love!

Didacus
Anyone who advances to confession with a genuine heart will be nervous; we are facing the worse in ourselves everytime, but walk away with the infinite grace of God. Even though there seems to be some exceptions in this thread... I guess i've always been nervous going to confession because... well... I don't know... but the above to me doesn't seem to be far from the Truth where-ever it may be. DominicanHeart
Oh yes I always get nervous! The longer I wait in line the more nervous I get! And we have the Act of Contrition taped in there and I always read off of it even though I do know it by heart. But there is such a difference when I'm done! And it's the best! Makarioi
This includes "Grave Sins" that are mortal when done with full will. Many "Grave Sins" are not mortal if they are repeated if the repeat is failure to overcome them. If the repeat act is in not trying, then it becomes Mortal. A Grave Sin is not mortal if it is a failure unless it's a failure to try avoid it. We need constant encouragement to keep trying and need regular confession for the Graces to keep trying I like this topic and the excerpt above. I was raised with the confessional, kind of " forced" to go in Catholic school. As an adult, many churches have face to face, ours has both. The confessional was busy so face to face was available, so I went. I about fainted. It's hard to look someone in the eye and have a conversation about sins. Never again!! Peace
I get a little nervous. A priest once told me that you should go into confession confident that the Lord loves you and will forgive your sins.
