MichaelFilo
Canada is nice. So is the US. Sure the US and Canada are different, but it's been already said, Canada follows European models, although I'd go farther and say it follows European models on more than just econimic issues, maybe even morality issues.I think we all know though, the only two good countries in Europe are Portugal and Vatican City. Oh well Canada is still nice, I give you props for mixing English and French into one country and not actually mixing the languages. I bet that was fun. Over all, the only one talking about Canada in this world is the US, and really I think it should be at least a little flattering someone cares. On the other hand, it could be kinder attention. I never actually see any debates on the differences and which side is better, just alot of words being flung. Oh well. God bless Mikey
Catholic_Pinoy
I remember seeing a poll that showed how most Canadians view Americans as evil. Is it because the U.S. isn't as liberal as Canada?
crusader1234
While Cmom's post kind of insulted me, I'm going to skip to Pinoy's... I don't believe such a poll exists.
ironmonk
I am so sick of all the anti-Canadian-ness here from people like Curtins. I support (with the exception of my governments stance on gay marriage and abortion) my country and everything it has done with its limited budget, for the global community. I LOVE MY COUNTRY I SUPPORT THE EFFORTS OF OUR ARMED FORCES OVERSEAS WOOHOOO CANADA! GOD BLESS CANADA! CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA
Not just the stance on gay marriage and abortion... but their terroristic threats to the Church in regards to it. Those are two major reasons for leaving a country. I would leave America if I knew of a better country that has greater Catholic values. And forget all that cold in Canada... that would smell of elderberries. Edited January 17, 2005 by ironmonk

MichaelFilo
Don't be hurt. It was a bit biased, but no reason to get your feathers ruffled. I've heard people bash my country like a blacksmith and a hammer going at my country, but its better to keep quiet. I do understand my Canadian friends that indeed, it is hard to take the receiving the end of some American attitudes, but it won't change, unless the travel more, but that won't happen O.o. and Ironmonk, yes, as a Floridian myself, I think Canada is much too cold for habitation. I think Cmom made an alright post there...correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought it was a neutral post about how America (not necesarily Cmom herself) feels about Canada. crusader1234
I'm not sure how 40% is 'most' of Canada, but anyways the reason some people find America 'evil' is because of the war and the fact that you are, in a sense, international bullies that have total disregard for the UN.
Well, it was about half a year ago, and I wasn't completely sure about the numbers. I apologize if I didn't make that clear. 40% is still quite a huge chunk, and the anti-American number increases to 64% when it comes to French-Canadians. I guess that's why I remembered something about most Canadians hating America. I don't support the UN, their oil-for-food program, their pro-choice agenda, or their sexual exploitation of children. God Bless, Grant P.S: You should be able to find plenty of info. on the UN at: http://forums.catholic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=34. cmotherofpirl
Maybe because we are a member of it and it serves to keep rogue nations like the United States from acting unilaterally in things that so drastically affect the global community? (Like war, for instance) And just how, madam, is free health care a bad thing, even if it is 'socialistic'?
THe UN is mostly a joke organization, and has no moral authority to do anything. And Icthus, if socialistic health care is so good, why do Canadians cross the border to get health care here?
Sanvean
And Icthus, if socialistic health care is so good, why do Canadians cross the border to get health care here?
Because people are selfish, and don't understand that the waiting lists allow people with health situations that are extremely urgent get treated swiftly. Personally(and I spend much of my time living in a border city when not at school), I would really rather suffer for an indeterminate amount of time than even *consider* crossing the border to be treated in America. Most people I know feel the same way, and have no good stories whatsoever about the times when they fell ill in your country. If your capitalist health care is so wonderful... I'm curious, why do so many Americans I know try to sneak in their meds from Canada? On a funny note, when I was stationed in Pulaski, New York... the locals were more friendly to those of us working for the Canadian government, than those who were there working for Fish & Wildlife over there. In fact, there were times when locals would only let Canadian employees have land access, not their fellow Americans. Strange world(and, in fact, strange city). What people caught up in bashing Canada and our "evil" socialist ways seem to forget... our governments get along, for the most part, just fine.
