I am so sick of all the anti-Canadian-ness here from people like Curtins. I support (with the exception of my governments stance on gay marriage and abortion) my country and everything it has done with its limited budget, for the global community.

I LOVE MY COUNTRY
I SUPPORT THE EFFORTS OF OUR ARMED FORCES OVERSEAS

WOOHOOO CANADA! GOD BLESS CANADA!

CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA CANADA
Haha, Canada's tight. You've also been a bit anti-american yourself.

I didn't realize you were Canadian. I admit, I've found a lot of the anti-Canadian rhetoric that floats around here disturbing, and, well... hurtful(at times, even un-Christian in a saddening way). There's a huge difference between being pro-American and anti-Canadian. I have no problem with the many Americans here who love their country. That does not, however, ever excuse those who take it a step further and make derrogatory remarks against a country that is not their own.

In fact, this attitude is one of the reasons I stopped posting here very often so quickly after I first joined. Just as I cannot tolerate the severe anti-American rhetoric I sometimes hear from my classmates, hearing anti-Canadian rhetoric brings out anything but charity in me.

You mean Israel? I'm currently planning on taking off to France for as long as I can afford, then settling in either Montreal (McGill) or New York (Columbia) to learn.

I haven't seen anything said but I have no issues with Canada and I wasn't aware anyone else did either.

Also, don't you think the US gets to hear alot of junk for going to war, Canada is far from being disliked.

A healthy patriotic love of one's country is a virtue. From the Summa Theologica, Secunda Secundae Partis, Q. 101, art. 1:

"I answer that, man becomes a debtor to other men in various ways, according to their various excellence and the various benefits received from them. on both counts God holds first place, for He is supremely excellent, and is for us the first principle of being and government. On the second place, the principles of our being and government are our parents and our country, that have given us birth and nourishment. Consequently man is debtor chiefly to his parents and his country, after God. Wherefore just as it belongs to religion to give worship to God, so does it belong to piety, in the second place, to give worship to one's parents and one's country.

The worship due to our parents includes the worship given to all our kindred, since our kinsfolk are those who descend from the same parents, according to the Philosopher (Ethic. viii, 12). The worship given to our country includes homage to all our fellow-citizens and to all the friends of our country. Therefore piety extends chiefly to these."

I like Canada, I spent every summmer up there, and even lived there for a bit.
Americans forget Canada is not a carbon copy America and they take great pains to follow socialistic European models of behavior and morals, in an effort to differentiate themselves from the US.

The current governments are currently curtailing civil liberties and permitting an anything goes attitude in morals, relying on the famous canadian reticence and dislike of disagreement to push specific agandas thru to become laws.

This ticks off Americans more than the Canadians can imagine, because we tend to think Canadians [since we share the same land mass] are much more reasonable intelligent sensible people than the Europeans.

For instance we can't imagine why the Canadians give any credence to the UN.

Maybe because we are a member of it and it serves to keep rogue nations like the United States from acting unilaterally in things that so drastically affect the global community? (Like war, for instance)
