cathqat
I have been a U.S. citizen my entire life, and a Catholic Christian for the past ten years. I have numerous friends who are devout Catholic Christians from Canada. I also know some devout Protestant Christians from Canada. I hereby request that U.S. Americans stop throwing blanket insults at Canadians and vice-versa, and I ask the moderators to please stop --at the very least-- all the ad hominem attacks. cathqat
I have a right to stand up for my country and especially for my troops when they are called terrorists- I will not stand for such rhetoric
But you do not have a right to call yourself a Christian while throwing blanket insults at a whole nation of people. Please desist NOW.

These debates are not constructive, so just agree to disagree like adults instead of bickering like five-year olds.
jezic
i strongly agree. Please lock those threads. Maybe there should be a forum for this type of convo so we can continue discussing constructive things.

crusader1234
God Bless you, Cathqat. I'm a Catholic Canadian, and I'm sick of it. Everyone, Nationalism and Patriotism are stupid wastes of time. You should occupy yourself with making the world a better place, not bickering over who kicks the other's metaphorical behind. God created HUMANS, not Americans, not Canadians.... We should all be concerned with the well being of the global community, not our ethnocentric biases. Besides, if anybody has the right to be patriotic, its the Israelites. And most of you aren't Israeli so back off.
Socrates
There's nothing wrong with patriotism! People just need to keep their cool, be gentlemen, and not throw around childish insults at other people's countries. (Though certain individuals [not on this thread] have been doing all they can to provoke people with their anti-American insults.) I apologize if my response to curtins' remark in a now-closed thread seemed to be an insult to Canadians - it was more of a joke, rather than a total endorsement of curtins' remark, which was a bit excessive. It was also based on my personal experience, having gone to a Catholic American college with a lot of Canadian students, that many (not all!) have moved to America and become U.S. citizens. I prefer the U.S. to Canada, but I have no hatred of Canadians. In the college there was an ongoing U.S.-Canadian rivalry which was all in good fun, and there was no hatred involved. Peace to all!
