BAGHDAD (Reuters) - An American soldier was sentenced on Friday to one year in jail for the murder of a severely wounded Iraqi teenager in a Baghdad slum district last year, the U.S. military said.
"Staff Sergeant Cardenas Alban was convicted on one count of murder and one count of conspiracy to murder at a court martial at the 1st Cavalry Division courthouse at Camp Liberty today," a military spokesman said.

Alban is the second American soldier to be court martialled over the incident.

It says Iraqi teenager, it doesn't say terrorist.

On what grounds do you want to kill teenagers?
What are your criterion for killing kids?

I misread what he said, I thought he was referring to the murderer, not the poor kid.

Yes, Im sure 'Liberators', have the right to kill any inhabitant they like, funny that sounds a lot like imperialism.

By the sounds of it, being a US Soldier.

When a person commits a criminal act he must be prosecuted and if found guilty, punished. In this particular case that appears to have occurred.

God bless,

Many of the terrorists are teenagers.

My guess since the sentance was so light the kid was a terrorist.

Haven't you ever watched the videos of how they train these people? They start as soon as they can read.

In a place like that when dealing with Islamic people - given their track record ever since Mohammed wanted to be like Jesus - benefit of the doubt belongs to the US soldier.

God Bless.

There are extenuating circumstances to this case that aren't widely known and circulated. I don't see it as an indictment of the US criminal justice system. I'm sure none of us was on the tribunal and saw the evidence presented. Though if I remember correctly this teenager was a member of the militia in Fallujah who had been shooting at the US soldiers. What I can't remember is whether he was the one the soldier shot because he was afraid the body might be booby-trapped or if he was the one who was so badly injured that he asked to be killed in the name of mercy. I don't recall, there hasn't been just one of these cases.

I don't think they start that late. I've seen photos of kids barely old enough to be toddlers with bombs strapped to them.
