Phatmasser777
Hold the elections, then get out Most of our partners in Iraq are preparing to leave. We should too Robin Cook 01/14/04 "The Guardian" -- The biggest surprise of the White House announcement calling off the search for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq is that there was anyone still out there looking for them. The rest of the planet has known for over a year that there are no WMD to be found in Iraq, and that hunting for them is just as eccentric - and even less interesting - as poring over arcane codes in the hope of unearthing the holy grail. Nevertheless, we cannot allow the Bush administration to conduct the last rites on the weapons search without reminding Downing Street that this also buries their claim that Iraq was, in the words of the September dossier, "a current and serious threat". A two-year search by 1,000 personnel with a budget of $1bn has found zero threat: no weapons stockpiles; no chemical or biological agents; no nuclear plants; no delivery systems. When Tony Blair was obliged to admit last summer that he could find no weapons, he promised to produce weapons programmes. Now the search has been closed down by Washington without uncovering any such programmes either. Revealingly, Washington never thought to warn the British of this week's statement. Despite Britain committing a third of its army to the invasion of Iraq, it did not occur to anyone in the White House to pick up the phone and warn the British government in advance of their unilateral decision. Perhaps this latest twist of the knife might finally cure Tony Blair of his delusion that the Bush administration will ever listen to him in return for his loyalty to them. The immediate pressure for calling off the hunt, as US officials conceded, is the rising danger to any investigator rash enough to venture out of the fortified green zone. The security situation in large parts of Iraq is now so dire that it is the police who often choose to wear masks so that they cannot be recognised, and the insurgents who make no attempt to disguise themselves even in the capital city in broad daylight. EcceNovaFacioOmni
Why don't you send this to the president? Nobody around here has the authority to deploy/extract US forces.

People who say we should leave have nothing to base it on.... which makes them the epitome of a fool. We should leave when the Iraqi government that we recognize has enough strength to defend itself against the terrorists. It IS NOT Americas fault for innocents dying - PLACE THE BLAME WHERE BLAME IS DUE... the terrorists. If the terrorists STOPPED attacking, then our soldiers could come home. If the terrorists stopped, then there would be no innocent people dying. Terrorists DO NOT REASON... They cannot be reasoned with... We cannot treat them like other enemies. They have a worse mentality than Charles Manson - you cannot reason with mad men. Terrorism will end when the terrorists are dead or locked up. There were WMD's. Just because they didn't find them DOES NOT mean there weren't any. The U.N. released a report that they had satellite evidence that there WERE WMD's BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER the war! But the media does not want you to know this because they are liars. Truth does not matter to the media... they're mad at God and anyone who loves Him. God Bless. ironmonk. ironmonk
Within the scope of getting or to be seen to be getting what they want, they can be reasoned with. They can also be silenced with effective diplomacy and infiltration.
Wrong. You obviously haven't studied them much or know much about them. A fool will give a terrorist what they want. Then when the terrorist sees that he can get what he wants through terror, he will want more and use terror again. They cannot be silenced with diplomacy or infiltration. Again, you have proven that you don't know them very well. They believe if they die in fighting you they will go to heaven and have 70 virgins. From the time they learn to speak they are taught this. What they want is the death of Jews and all infidels - non-muslims. What they want is the release of other terrorists. What they want is to broad their power over others.
That's not really the point. We invaded a country that had not and was not in a position to attack anyone. That sets quite a precedent, you would agree on that at least?
That is the point. We invaded a country of a madman who was trying to build up a means to attack others. We invaded a country of a madman who was killing millions of his own people and would have thousands tortured for the joy of exercising his power. The Iraqi people are better off today because of it and are happier.
