dUSt
Just wanting to know if phatmass has had a direct affect on anybody's conversion decision? Just curious.
Sojourner
If by direct effect you mean did I decide to convert because of things on Phatmass ... no. But, I'd say that Phatmass has definitely helped smooth the path. It really helps to be able to have people to talk to who believe what you believe, and who know where you've been and why you made the choices you've made. homeschoolmom
I'd agree with Soj. By the time I found Phatmass, we were pretty much a done deal. But during some of the very lonely fallout, PM was a true Godsend.
journeyman
By the time I found Phatmass, . . . pretty much a done deal . . . definitely helped smooth the path same in my case . . . and I keep coming back and learning more and more (ok, the fact they have way too much fun over in open mike might be another reason)
Honour
Not really fair, 'cause I'm not a convert yet... but If I do decide to join the church it would have a direct coorelation to my finding phatmass. An interest...that probably would have been passing...has become an addiction. I'm going to the Christian Bookstore later today to try to pick up some titles that have been recomended to me by peeps here. And a Catholic bible. Phatmass has been a good thing for me, no matter where "My Catholic Journey" ends.
journeyman
Thank you Honour - I suspect members of the phamily like yourself were the intended recipients of the question . . . bump for others to respond
crusader1234
I'm a cradle Catholic, so naturally I wasn't very into my faith... Phatmass, while it didn't change my direction, definately illuminated the path. If faith was as simple as 'Pilgrim's Progress', Phatmass would be like a roadmap through life. theculturewarrior
I converted before I ever found Phatmass. Conversion is lifelong though, and Phatmass definitely contributed. I am a better Christian because of Phatmass. That is conversion too.
popestpiusx
I decided to leave the Church because of the bad example set by those "phishy" people.

jezic
I decided to leave the Church because of the bad example set by those "phishy" people.
how can you decide to leave? I don't quite understand. However, i do realize that this format doesn't always work very well so talking about this stuff. SO you can choose. I just don't quite understand how someone could survive without the sacraments.
homeschoolmom
PSPX was joking. It's kind of a long story... but here goes: Some of the people here are given the "phishy" title meaning that something they said (or many things they say) are not in line with the Church. Usually, these are schimatics or such. The webmaster, dUSt, labels them such so that new people won't be lead astray from Church teaching by them. PSPX was labeled phishy for some reason (and it hasn't been changed). He's a traditional Catholic, but not a schismatic. Anyway, I think he was trying to be ironic. jezic
Ohh i see. that is kinda strange. I will probably get that designation. I don't always say quite what i mean. I really need to work on that. There are a few people that i think that has happened to on these boards. Did that make you want to leave the catholic church? homeschoolmom
Sometimes it makes me frustrated when trying to figure what's official teaching and what isn't. But I didn't want to leave because of it.
