Converts support group

I just found a converts support group at a church in Indianapolis. I'm WAY excited about it. I got an e-mail from the guy who's the contact for it, and he's a convert from Baptist who now attends Latin Mass so I'm sure he's gotta be orthodox.

The group even meets relatively close to where I live, so that's awesome. I'm just looking forward to hooking up with some Catholics who are excited about their faith ... I mean, it's awesome that you guys are here, but it'd be nice to have people to actually talk to. :)

Yet another reason you should move to Indiana .... how many more do you need?

ALthough the chances are relatively good that I might not be here too much longer ...

Ah well.

The group is pretty new -- basically, from what I understand, it's people who went through RCIA last year who decided to help out with catechumens and inquirers. I tried to do that at my church, but I've had several conflicts with the times that RCIA meets and I got to the point that I realized I needed to learn more before I could be an effective teacher.

The contact dude said he thinks I'll fit right in. I hope so ... it'd be nice to fit in somewhere for a change.

Welcome! Great to see you here. :)

Yes, the group did go well. Personally, I'm relieved to meet people in the flesh who actually know what they believe and why they believe it. It's refreshing, and gives me hope.

Oooh, I wish there was something like that here....I can relate to the wanting to have some face to face discussions......and my priests are so busy I don't feel I can bother them!

We don't even have RCIA follow up like some others do here.... :(

ellenita................................start a group if you need to. you have every right to do so, and you'll be surprised who comes out of the woodwork.

phatcatholic, I'm honoured that you think I could do that!

Actually what I desperately want is to deepen my knowledge and understanding about Catholicism, but I don't think I can take up my priests time with demands for debate! I suspect they think that I'm OK but there is a world of difference between protestant understanding and catholic understanding.....

Let us know how you get on Sojourner.....
