i just hate it when people post an article with no analysis or original thought and expect people to be swayed in their beliefs
Actually I posted it, just for the heck of it. :) Not to 'convert' you.

If I remember correctly, when Hitler was coming to power he did indeed infuse a lot of Christian rhetoric into his propaganda. He initially talked a line that was appealing to many German Protestants, but later his true colors came to the fore.

Thy Geekdom Come
The nazis were about as anti-christian as you could get. Hitler had some wonderful anti-religion quotes I'd love to dig up. Anyway, I actually agree with Socrates - whiny liberals.
This coming from a former liberal. :)

Yeah, us Christians are the ones like Hitler. With us supporting euthanasia, abortion, and policies to keep people in certain parts of the world from reproducing, it's no wonder they like to call George W. Bush Hitler.

(end sarcasm)

This is one of the Left's oldest tricks. If you don't like someone's ideas, call them Nazis, fascists, or something similar. This prevents the need to actually rationally discuss facts and ideas and defend one's beleifs.

If you're a conservative, you're a Nazi, you're evil, and therefore no further discussion is needed.
(And this also helps the liberal ego by making their stance appear heroic - they're not just fighting with conservatives they disagree with - they're fighting against Nazism and Fascism, man!)

Let's not forget that "Nazi" is an abreviation of "National Socialism."
Socialism and making government programs to solve all problems are hallmarks of the left, not the right.

Hitler admired Margaret Sanger. They both shared the same ideas on eugenics and population control; mainly that only the "fit" should reproduce.

Many pro-choice liberals try tiptoeing around this sad fact in history. Hitler's beliefs are very much rooted in liberal ideas, far far to the left.
(hence the swastika, which was a religious symbol for Nordic paganism)
The swastika has been considered a holy and auspicious sign, a divine symbol, in Hinduism for millennia --it was first mentioned in the Vedas. The name "swastika" is Sanskrit. The first part, su- is a cognate with the Greek ευ-, meaning "good, well." Asti means something like "to be." So svasti means "well-being." The suffix -ka makes the word diminutive. So svastika might be translated as "little thing associated with well-being." For Hindus, it represents the changing of the universe around the unchanging nature of God, etc.

From India it spread to use in other religions (Buddhism, Jainism) and cultures as either an auspicious sign or lucky charm. Even Christians used it. I remember seeing a swastika lovingly drawn on Tsarina Alexandra's diary in an exhibit on the Romanovs.

The almost universal association of the swastika with fascism after Naziism is a real source of frustration for many Hindus, Jainists, Buddhists, etc. See this Hinduism Today article, for example.

For Hitler the hakenkreuz or "hook cross" had a very different meaning: Hitler intended to displace Christianity.

You can, Pius XI was just very short-sighted.
