Benedict
Mine is between daily and monthly when I am at school. Usually less when I am at home. Most of it stems from the deeply inbred ignorance of Catholicism in America and it comes from pagans, atheists, agnostics, Moslems, Jews, Protestants, and fellow Catholics . . . everyone. Benedict
Lol! That's awesome. Sounds like a Catholic rap lyric! You Challenge The Church, You Challenge Her Authority, You say the foundation was man-made, My Church was man-made by the God-Man Himself. Okay, so I can't rap, but I know there are those one here that can...
That line works against that whole "the Catholic Church's teachings are XX% man-made traditions". "No, the Catholic Church's teachings are 100% man-made traditions. The only thing is, that man was also God. We know Him as Jesus Christ and He would really like it if you would learn more about His Church."

toledo_jesus
there are certain things I don't discuss with my mother. The fact that she sets herself up in opposition to Church teachings is one of those things.
yes, but many things in Catholicism are seeming contradictions. in this case, the line is merely a repetition of the 'Jesus is 100% God and 100% man' paradox. the logic holds. ironmonk
I'm just curious.
Never. I know that if I disagree with the Church I would be wrong. There are times that I have been corrected, but never will, and never had thought myself wiser than the Church. Seeing that some here believe that they have, I wonder if they confuse dissent with struggle or fail. "Express dissent" is to knowingly disagree - disprove of... Luther gave express dissent when he posted his 95 Thesis of lies and half truths on a door. Calvin gave express dissent when he was not loyal to the teachings from whom him learned them and left the Church. God Bless, ironmonk

Peace, Joe
Sorry, but nothing in the Catholic Church teachings are contradictions. There are contradictions in what non-Catholics believe the Church teaches, but no contradictions in Catholic Church teaches.... the Catholic Church is the only Church with a harmony of both OT and NT. Don John of Austria
I think she was asking if anyone ever expressed dissent with your theological views not if you ever dissented fromthe Churches, at least that is how I understood the question. Benedict
Yes, Don John, that was the question. How often do others express dissent to Catholic teaching?
cathqat
do you mind me asking who actually challenges all you in person on a daily basis?
Friends, family, acquaintances, total strangers.... I even once exchanged several personal letters with an anti-Catholic Fundamentalist that my roommate met in an airport *LOL* Edited January 10, 2005 by cathqat

jasJis
phatmasser777, That has got to be the silliest and most narrow minded view possible. It's saying that if 1,000 people agree, and 1,000 people disagree, it must be wrong and you choose the people who disagree. In fact, you side with all the people who disagree based on no facts or logic or analysis, but a desire to avoid the wrong choice by attempting to make no choice. The result is you only choose what's wrong because you won't allow yourself to choose what may be right if others claim it's wrong. Silly. dairygirl, are you surprised by the amount of theological challenge Catholics get?
