thessalonian
I am completely perplexed by this. It should go under murphy's law's but they seem to be more geared toward adults so I thought I would start a new category called Zuess's laws after the great Dr. Zuess. It occured to me today after letting my suddenly very independent almost 3 year old boy put on his own shoes that all of my children under four or five will invariably get them on the wrong feet when they do it themselves. No such thing as a fifty fifty chance. It just never fails. There must be a reason for this rooted in the fall of man or something. Perhaps someone can help me out of this deeply confused state over this newfound revelation. Blessings

homeschoolmom
When I was teaching, I had a student who told me they were more comfortable that way... But you're right... it never fails...
Pope St Clement 1
It never fails to happen in my experience either. Hmmm - fallen state of man  Even if I put the shoe in front of the corrct foot, I'll still have to stay "That shoe goes on that foot .............and that shoe goes on that foot." What age did you teach, hsmom?
thessalonian
Yep, never fails. I was late for Mass this morning. My four year old daughter put her boot on. 273 times in a row. Wrong foot. I am in danger of dispair over this. Someone must have an answer!
Guest T-Bone
There's some brand of shoe out there, I don't know what it is, but they have pictures that are half in one shoe and half in the other. The kid is able to draw the logical conclusion...
homeschoolmom
When she was little, my daughter had some shoes with fish in them. She was to make them "kiss" then she'd know which show was which...

When my little brothers need help getting their shoes on sometimes the older kids get mixed up.... maybe we need the pictured shoes....

thessalonian
Good Idea! I'll let my wife know. Still wondering how all of this is tied in to the fall of man.
Dreamweaver
One trick I've heard is to take a sharpie and draw little happy faces on the inner side of the shoes. When the shoes are on the correct feet, the happy faces are looking at each other.
thessalonian
HAAAAA!!! I have the answer and it is linked to the fall of man. I knew IT! THose of you who have children are just as blind as me. It took a singler guy to come up with the answer. Now I may need another thread to find out why a single guy figured this out. Here it is. Your kids (and mine) are smarter than you (and me). They intentionally put their shoes on the wrong feet, the little s. Thus it is definitely related to the fall of man and I've been had by them. But I still love them. At least I will get some sleep at night now, having the answer to this problem. Or will I, linging with such devious plotters. :pitchfork: Edited January 10, 2005 by thessalonian
