Hello, Hello, I found my new fav forum

Hi all,
Names lisa. And I love forums, since my scifi (Honor Harrington rules) shut down I thought I'd invest my time in something a little more important, my religion. Strike that, my beliefs, I hat the word religion.
Ok, so I'm protestant... I grew up in a Baptist church, my dad is now the pastor there(Texas). I dropped out of Bible College and Joined the AF... Now in California. I'm going to school part time working on my electrical engineering degree.
A couple of nights ago I had an excellent conversation with a Catholic coworker... That reminded about everything I admire about the Church (from a distance). I've been down this road before, and almost decided to take RCIA. Didn't happen then... maybe nows the time.
K if you read this far, I'm not as much of a nerd as I thought.
Honour

Welcome. You've come to the right place. I and many others will be glad to answer your questions. You might want to post them in the debate area however.
You may also be assured of my prays as satan likes to choke out the seeds that have been planted.

I might recommend a couple of books that would be helpful on your journey and a website or two. Born Fundamentalist, Born Again Catholic by David Curie sounds like a good one for you. Also if you want a deep perspective on our Mass, Scott Hahn (A former Presbyterian Minister) book, "The Lambs Supper" is simply amazing. Other books of his are quite good as well. Also Mark Shea's "By What Authority" takes a step by step logical look at Authority and Tradition. I also highly recommend you get a Catechism of the Catholic Church. As you go down this path and others find out, they will say things about the Church, many of them out of misconceptions. The Catechism will help you discern if they are true (along with a good Bible of course). That's the short list.

A good site,

www.catholic.com has resources on about anything you want to know about Catholicism, including the books I mentioned above I believe.

EE? Good major. I ended up in software, mainly microprocessors but have an EE.

Thanks thessalonian,
I am going to need all the resources I can get my hand on... The world I want to explore is overwhelmingly vast and completely alien. I have become so comfortable with everything I thought I knew about God that I disgust myself. I've always been so comfortable in my religion, its going to be good to be a little scared for a while.

Me too...I mean, it's not completel alien because I have been a Catholic all of my life, but there is still way too much uncharted territory for me to wanna stop now.
